Nigel Tufnel: The sustain, listen to it.

Marty DiBergi: I don't hear anything.

Nigel Tufnel: Well you would, though, if it were playing.

1. I believe thats a '59 Les Paul.

And, yes, we probably would still hear the sustain if it were playing. That's one of my all time fave movie scenes. Classic.

" See this one? Still got the ole' tagger on it"

" It can't be played"

" No you cannot look at it. You've seen enough of that one".

Classic.

2. It is? Chopped into a flying-vee kind?
Or you mean the one he actually holds up while saying that?

I like his guitar collection, anyway. :D

4.  D'oh! Replied before the picture came-up. Dam Dial-up!

Yes, that's a flying V in the picture. In the movie scene I'm fairly certain that the guitar with endless sustain is a '59 Les Paul. Worth more than my house. I think the one with the 'ole tagger' on it is a Fender Mustang, but my memory is a little hazy...

Love to have that amp that goes to 'eleven'...

6. I found the one he was talking about but the pictrue wasn't good
I think you're right...I don't know about the year, but I think it was a flame Les Paul. Nice!

8. Actually, it's a Gibson Firebird
In an old Bass Player article (tie-in to Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom" where everyone plays bass), "Nigel" (Chris Guest) refers to the "ol' tagger" Gibson as a very rare, sea-foam green six-string bass. With tiny little strings.

7. Sir Paul's Hofner is still ringing with the sustain from
Candlestick Park, 1966. :-)
