last post of the day - RANT
i detest having to make travel arrangements when the boss doesn't know exactly when he needs to be there, or exactly when he can leave, and doesn't understand why i need to know these things.

even worse is when a client tells him, "no, go into such & such airport and then DRIVE to the city where the meeting is." especially when his meeting is somewhere in Southern CA -- which i know -- and his client lives and works in MAINE and has never lived in CA. how fucking stupid! and the boss says, "no, he says it'll be fine, set it up that way." guess who's going to get reamed when the drive takes him five hours instead of one and a half and the meeting is over before he gets there?!

1. Sorry to hear that
People who have not experienced Southern California traffic have no clue that it can take a person 50 minutes to travel 5 miles.

2. ooooh man
I hear you there! I did the travel arrangements for my boss at my previous job. He also didn't grasp the concept of needing to know WHEN and WHERE before one buys a plane ticket. His other trick was to wait until about a week before he was supposed to leave and then announce that the ticket simply had to be changed because his son had a football game that he absolutely couldn't miss. AAARGH.

As for SoCal driving, I got to inform a group of Texas fans that their plans to drive to the beach and back to Burbank in 3 hours probably wasn't going to work so well. They insisted that mapquest told them it was only 15 miles... :eyeroll:

3. Yes, you can look at the map and see it is 15 miles
but 15 miles in SoCal can be an eternity.

4. Oh yeah, I know what the map says
but they wouldn't believe me when I said it would easily take an hour. Ah well, they found out the hard way. ;)
