It's amazing, but we still have people around born in the 19th century |
|
Imagine that: we still have people living whose parents were probably alive during the civil war, and whose grandparents might have fought in it. Or whose grandparents might have been in Bimarck's army. Or who might even have heard first-hand stories of Napolean from their grandparents.

1. Hmm, the Civil war ended in 1865 so if someone was born that year |
|
and then had a child when they were 65 (let's push it), that would be 1930, and that would make the child now seventy six, so yes it is possible. Gees, had to use both fingers AND toes for that one.

2. Well, I'm thinking people who are more than 100 now |
|
Who were born in the 19th century.
I know we have some born in the late 1890s, which means their parents would likely have been born in the 1870s, maybe even the 1860s, and their grandparents certainly would have been alive during the Civil War. And there's a good possibility that a child born then would have been able to hear stories from a grandparent or great grandparent about Napolean.

3. My grandfather fought against the bolsheviks and was sent |
|
to Siberia. He had stories about the Czar. But I was pretty young when he died, so unfortunately I don't remember many of them.

4. My grandfather's village in Finland was decimated by the Bolsheviks |
|
(This was my mother's father)
He was born in 1895. My mother was born in 1952. And I'm only 23.
My grandfather died in 1966, 16 years before I was born.

5. I was raised by my grandparents |
|
who were born in the 1890's. This may perhaps explain a certain somewhat antiquated formality that people who know me have sometimes mentioned. Most of my relatives of that generation lived into their 90's so I became well acquainted with their old world and surroundings.
