Words of wisdom spoken to me by my mother as a child...and especially during the Watergate era, when she positively gloated at her acuity and insight.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 4, 2006, my mother would have celebrated her 94th birthday. Sadly, she died a week ago tomorrow, on Wednesday, December 28, 2005.

Her final illness was brief...a heart attack suffered December 22. She died in peace surrounded by most of her family (not the triplets, they are just 5) and in full command of her faculties until the last few hours when breathing was all she could concentrate on.

Rest in peace, Florence.

December is rough enough.

Doug lost his sister and his Dad in December, and oddly, the survivors -- his mum, Doug and I all have birthdays in the same month. It's a damn rollercoaster.

I'm glad your mother went peacefully. A good death is a precious thing. Difficult but still, a blessing.
