How dare you question my integrity.

Most of you new folks don't know me. If you did, you'd know I wouldn't behave in the manner ascribed to me. I've seen some of the posts attributed to me and they are disgusting. I've said it before and will say it again. I didn't write that stuff.

I assume most of you are here because you are Dems. So am a I. But I took my beliefs a bit further and ran for State Rep. It wasn't easy, but after 2 losses I won in 1998...BTW this may be a "blue state" over all, but it's bright red in my Leg. district. I worked my ass of, defeating a 10 term incumbent in a district only 24% Dem. And on the behalf of the very same types of people who are calling me a liar now.

There was no gain for me in this win. We Rep's got paid approximately 9.5k/year and even though we were in session appox. 6 and 4 months respectively, our (ok I'll speak for myself) MY job was year round, work could be at any/all times of day and night. I lost money but did it because I wanted to help people...those who couldn't speak for themselves....

If I tell you my brother-in-law wrote those posts, then he did.

But, with all due respect, how are we to know? The internets are two-dimensional, and that isn't enough to measure sincerity. We have to rely on our instincts and insight, but those sometimes betray us. Plus, some people are simply more cynical than others.

If you want the benefit of the doubt, you should afford it to us as well.

5. Why would you assume the worst?

I always try to take things at face value unless I am given reason to beleive otherwise...THEN (and only then) I become like a bloohound on a trai;. I'd make sure evidence is collected before I publicly drew conclusions. Perhaps you/they could research my former posts going back to May/01 or 02, try 03 and 04.... And check out not only the content, but the different writting styles...

And I afforded you the benefit of the doubt (just by being on this DU, just as I should have been given). I thought you were fellow Dems. (Or Greens?) I assumed the best.

And, like I said, this is two-dimensional; few people here know others well. For all we knew, you may have been reacting to a sinus medication or something.

Most of us with just a few hundred posts have encountered Freepers on troll, and some of them are rather clever. So much for "just by being on DU" and assuming the best.

I'm not accusing you of anything. I think, though, you should consider all the angles involved here, particularly to include human nature in all its variants and nuances.

14. What did I miss? I remember seeing some posts when you were depressed

that got me a bit worried, as you remember, but not any that would make me doubt your integrity.

Quite frankly, few, if any of us know who you really are. It's not a question of integrity, for there is little of that in the anonymity of the internet.

I think that perhaps it might be in everyone's interest to take a break from this. Maine Mary has explained her view of the situation. Others have shared their views. My impression is that arguing over it will only serve to shed more heat than light. Hopefully time will heal this wound, and will allow us all to re-build the trust that has (sadly but understandably) been broken.
