Who was the genius that scheduled the game (well, ok, the pregame) to start at 5:00 Pacific time? Why is this a bad idea? 1) the game is in Los Angeles (essentially), 2) one of the teams playing in the game is from Los Angeles, 3) the vast majority of people in Los Angeles want to watch the game, 4) most people get off work at 5:00, 5) most Los Angelenos have at least an hour commute home.
In other words, the traffic situation in LA tonight is going to be made worse than usual by a bunch of people who are fighting their way home to watch the game. Compounded by people who are trying to get to bowl parties. Either that or everyone's going to leave work at 3...thereby clogging up the roads for people trying to get to the game... see what I'm saying? Bad planning, kids!

1. oh, husker, husker, husker... you think "they" actually care? |
|
having worked in WDC for five years i know: No. One. Cares. About. Commuters. Between never-ending construction, fucking motorcades, and BLOCKS closed off because of "suspicious packages" that turn out to be someone's lunch bag on the sidewalk - where it fell because he missed when he tossed it toward the trash can - i have learned.
No one cares about commuters.
Hopefully it'll be like the "Black Friday" that never materialized during the '84 Olympics.

and I know they have to make it early enough for the East Coasters to stay up and watch it. But, geesh. I'm feeling sorry for people from Pasadena and USC fans who actually, you know, have to work today.

I'm reminded that fewer people lost their lives in the '89 SF Earthquake than would have if the World Series weren't being played -- the game started at 5:00 PM. Word was, a LOT of people left work early so they could be at home when the game started, so fewer people were on the road at 5:04 than usual. Remember that freeway that pancaked? :scared:
I totally understand your frustration.

Los Angelenos are smart enough to get off work early, or have understanding employers who will let them off early.
For anyone stuck in traffic, they either don't care, or aren't as resourceful as they should be. :P
