Verizon vs Cingular? Which is best? |
|
I've been a Verizon customer so far in my cellphone life, but am thinking of switching to Cingular, only because I heard they might have reception in a few more areas of my region than Verizon does...although I'm not positive on that. Plus, I like that Razor phone they have a special on right now.
Is this a mistake to switch from Verizon to Cingular?
Anwyay, what's your preference as to cellphone companies?

7. Why? Bad reception or poor customer service? |
|
Just wondering why you don't like it.

2. Verizon has the Razr phone on special too |
|
If you get on their web site, and order it that way, you get $100.00 off. I'm going to get one, plus I just got the New in Two deal (retroed, that you very much, nice customer service person!) so will get an additional $100 off, and get the thing for $99.

3. I have Cingular and I'm satisfied with it |
|
Cingular is the only provider I ever had so I don't have anything to compare it to though.

6. That's my trouble, too. I've only had Verizon. This is what I might do... |
|
I may sign up for Cingular and get the Razr phone. The phone is $29 right now after rebates. I'll keep my Verizon going for a couple weeks at the same time and compare the two of them side by side for that time period. Then, if I don't like Cingular, I can get out of my Cingular contract without any penalty as long as I do it within the first 30 days. The only drawback is I'd have to get different phone number with Cingular if I do it like that, but I wouldn't mind a new number anyway.

4. We switched from Cingular to Verizon. |
|
Cingular's coverage started getting worse and worse after the merger with AT&T. We had more dropped calls, more "dead zones", and more wildly fluctuating signal strengths than ever before. Their customer service was also a completely useless entity that was never able to give us one good answer. Ever since we switched to Verizon, we've had absolutely no problems. The coverage has been better everywhere we go, including way up into Maine.
(Oh, we live in SE Pennsylvania, about 45 minutes west of Philadelphia. Not exactly an area where you would expect bad reception, since it basically consists of industrial parks and the homes that house the people that work there, basically creating one huge suburb of Philadelphia.)

8. I had verizon, mom has cingular |
|
I LOVED Verizon and was really shitting when we moved to the sticks and I had to get shitty T-Mobile (of course, a month after we signed a 1 yr contract, Verizon set up service out here...oh well, just a few more months).
We were with Verizon for...oh...3 years or so. NEVER had a billing issue with them. NEVER had rude customer service. If we had an issue (something simple--billing question, etc), they would always tack on free minutes or knock money off our bill. ALWAYS. They get superior service (at least out here in Washintgon State) and I am quite upset that I still have 3 months to go before I can switch back to Verizon.
My mom has Cingular. She HATES it. Always sounds like she's talking underwater. Can't get decent service for shit. Definitely no service in the mountains. She's had Cingular for about 2 years (I think she had a 2 year contract) and EVERY SINGLE MONTH for the last 2 years she's had a billing issue. Once, they charged her $800 (instead of $30) because of some fuckup in the billing department and it took her MONTHS (as in, like FOUR months) to get it straightened out. SHe was on the phone DAILY telling the people "Look at my bill. THERE IS NO WAY I MADE $800 in calls" and Cingular service was like "Uh, uh, well, uh, let me put you on hold..." only to put her on hold for 40 minutes, then drop the line.
She says when she gets done with her contract with them, she's going with Verizon.
I wish I never had to switch from Verizion to T-Mobile, but again, due to location, we had no choice (besides Cingular bleh!)
