Poll question: Grade Your Governor (Please) and Tell us Why
Edited on Wed Jan-04-06 10:53 PM by elshiva
This is in honor of my governor, Bobby "Le Smooth/Dirty Ehrly" Ehrlich
who graded himself a "B" for 2005. HMMMM! In 2005, Ehrlich tried to pass his
slot bill, veto bills for raising the minimum wage, and for partnership rights
for unmarried couples. Plus he started the dirty tricks gubernatorial campaign with a smear against opponent to be O'Malley. So he gets a big "E."

Please grade your own governor, don't let him or her grade themselves! And
tell us why and what state, please!

I'd have flunked him altogether except that he does favor permitting the importation of cheaper drugs from Canada. He basically sucks ass, though.

Wow.

Well, I'm not with the state anymore. We had a falling out, so I'm, er, between gigs currently.

Any Aggie who is cheering for Texas doesn't live in Austin. I've never been a fan of burnt orange, but I've overdosed on it. ;)

35. You ever hear the old joke about how you know God is a Longhorn?
Because he made the most glorious sunsets burnt orange. (but then that also assumes one believes in a god!)

And then there was the one about the man in the bar who asked the bartender if he'd like to hear a good Aggie joke. The bartender replied "Before you say anything, you should know that I am an Aggie, that 6 foot 3 inch bodybuilder over there is an Aggie, and the bar's bouncer is an Aggie. Now, are you sure that you want to tell the joke?"

The man responded "Nah, not if I'm going to have to explain it 3 times." :)

Hope the job situation works out well for you!

But I'm glad Montana has a decent governor again.

Now we have to do something about Rehberg and Burns.

Do you have a feeling at this point about Morrison v. Tester? I haven't seen the fourth quarter's fundraising numbers yet.

30. I am leaning towards Tester
But I like them both. Morrison is supposedly more electable because he's more moderate, but when it gets down to brass tacks, Tester is inspiring in a way that Morrison isn't, and Tester is a farmer from a REALLY small town, as opposed to a lawyer from (I think) Missoula.

28. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas gets an A from me.
She's a very good Governor, and there are some who think she could be a candidate for higher office in 2008. She's up for re-election this year, and at this point there is simply no serious challenge to her from the Republicans. Which is pretty interesting, when you think about how thoroughly Republican this state is.

Personally, although I think she'd make a wonderful President, I feel as if we need her more in the state than the country needs her.

She deals well with a difficult, Republican dominated legislature opposed to sensible funding for schools. She's smart, savvy, and pays careful attention to what needs to be done. I don't know whether I should feel sorry that most of you have never heard of her, or to be glad that she's not in the national spotlight, which would only serve to take her away from us.

I've met her a couple of times, thanks to my own political activism, and she's very good in person.

but then I also have petulant, whining, baby bush wannabe Ehrlich. Add in replace the cuts he made in higher education the last 3 years to your list. But not one cent extra and tell the state how he cares about education as the middle class is locked out of state colleges. Besides I think he only replaced what he took away to help Steele so he can continue the destruction of the state.

She has done a remarkable job with things the way they are today in Michigan. We have lost so many good jobs to out sourcing it is scary. The state was in a hell of a mess when she was elected and the rethugs control congress. She has fought like a tiger and I am glad she in Governor.
