I like Riata. I had narrowed it down to here or Hardrock over by the Arboretum. My six year old daughter liked this one better, though, and since I wanted to make things as easy as possible on the kids, I went with Riata. They assigned me an apartment number that was my twelve year old's "lucky number," by coincidence, so it has been good for both of them.

Bear Rock Cafe is on Parmer, just in front of Cool River Cafe. They have salads, sandwiches, baked potatoes, and some kids meals, and great deserts. It's too pricey to dine at every day, but it's not too bad. Good food, clean decor (kind of a mountain lodge look). And a couple of things I can eat!

Actually, it had a LOT of everything. Defense dominated first half. Unbelievable scoring fireworks second half.

I thought for SURE it was done when USC went up 12 with like 6 or 7 minutes to go. Not just because it was that score, but it just looked like UT could never stop LenDale White, ever. So I just didn't see them climbing back from a two touchdown hole since it looked like they just couldn't stop USC getting first downs and chewing up clock.

Vince Young is incredible. Not just because he plays great and no one can tackle him (although that's a big part of it, LOL).

But WHAT A LEADER that guy is. Did you notice the little calm smile on his face during that last drive in the last minute? I remember thinking, the right kind of player would LOVE this... as a competitor, this is what you LIVE for, your whole life coming down to a few minutes, down by 5 with a desperate chance for glory... Vince Young is that player.

182. The one thing no one is touching on with Vince Young is his ability

to read defenses. He didn't just get out there and scramble for yardage because his pass play broke down, as many scrambling QBs do. He read the defences as the plays developed, and kept all options open until he decided where to go. That's part of why no one touched him when he scrambled-- he read the field, he didn't just react.

The reason Montana was such a great QB was his ability to read the field as he dropped back, so he knew what was happening before he even set to throw. That's a rare skill in a running QB. McNabb at his best does it, so did Cunningham and Elway (and Favre, but he only ran his first few years). Young does it better than any college QB I've seen. He's ready for the pros, to step up to those more complex defenses. I'm sure that USC's defense was the most sophisticated he's ever faced, and that's why he was slow in the first half. But he had it figured out by the end of the game.

This man has all the pro skills he needs, and he just moved from a middle of the first rounder to the top spot with his game tonight. He ought to go pro. He'd be drafted by Houston, and get to play in his home town, and he'd be really, really rich.

Of course, if he stays in college, and doesn't get injured (thus getting no money for all his skills), he'd probably still go to Houston next year. They aren't likely to get any better in the next year.

that the USC defense was average at best, and was laughed down big time...Now the weak schemes, the lack of speed and recognition, and the shitty pursuit angles have finally cost them big time....

Not to take anything away from Vince Young's performance, but if he tries to run for 200 against an NFL defense (even a bad one), he will never stay healthy long enough to play a full season.
