I met and played w/ Bryan a few times in Athens, GA in the late 80's when the band came through; he was an exceeddingly nice guy who was also very talented. He also played w/ Gutterball, along side of Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate), Bob Rupe (The Silos), and steve McCarthy of "The Long Ryders, and their debut album was a classic.

This is such a horrible thing all the way around to have happen all the way around; I don't know what to say.

3. Enigmatic, when my girlfriend told me about this yesterday, I thought of

you first. She was cut up about it and had never even heard of the guy. I played her "When You Make Up Your Mind" just to show what a quality player he was. RIP Bryan and family. Hope you can give him heavy play on your radio show.

4. Oh my god, that's horrible.

I can't even begin to grasp why someone would do such a thing to an entire family - that reads like an execution. Awful, just awful, and all the moreso because it happened to someone so talented.

9. I was logging onto my aol instant messenger the other night

and it was one of the stories on the spam AIM news page that pops up along with buddy list and it caught my eye so i read it and was bothered the rest of the night although I am not familiar with the band. i used to live in norfolk VA in the 80's but never heard of them. I was gone by 88 though(navy). of course i have heard dream syndicate and have a "best of" CD of theirs that actually belongs to another ex-DUer that I haven't returned yet...

i can't imagine how you must feel if you met him. I also can't imagine somebody slitting the throats of anyone , let alone little children. just disgusting. :puke:

11. I'm in Richmond and it is

fucking awful. It's absolutely evil and senseless and everybody has so many questions and is creeped out besides. Everybody loved all four members of this family and can't begin to imagine what went down.

We want the fuckers that did this caught and brought to justice.

17. Yeah turns out the girl in the family on Broad Rock

was involved somehow. I was talking to a neighbor who used to hang out in the same circles as the Harveys and apparently the girl in the Broad Rock family was somehow involved and when this guy started bragging about it she starting talking. Apparently they came back down and killed her whole family too.

Very weird.

Opening for the Bangles of all bands. They were really good. So sad.
