Welcom to Big XII Football, the best in the Country! |
|
Despite the pundits' preference for USC, Texas is now the National Champion. Despite years of ignoring, maligning, and downplaying Big XII football, it is now obvious that the Big XII fields the best roster of football teams in the country, bar none. The Big XII went 5-2 in the bowl schedule this year, putting up a better record than any other conference. Several of those wins were huge upsets, and all of the games featured outstanding play and players.
Congratulations to the Big XII schools for putting on an outstanding performance this bowl season, and a special shout out to Texas for winning the National Championship despite the pundits giving it to the Trojans weeks ago. And another special shout out to my favorite Big XII team, the Missouri Tigers, who put on one hell of performance coming back from a 21 point deficit to beat South Carolina in the Independence Bowl.

1. You hit that one on the head, my man! |
|
I been hashing that out with people all year. If Tech hadn't blown it to 'Bama, and if Iowa State had come through, the Big 12 would have been looking even better. All I heard all year long was how the Big 12 was watered down, or was slipping. Guess this bowl season opened some eyes, eh?

2. Yeah, I've heard that garbage all year too. |
|
And it just burns me no end. And this comes on top of decades of downplay the the national sports media. Just nice to see the Big XII show the nation what football is all about! And I'm looking forward to next year, it should be great.

Sorry that whatever conference you root for didn't make the grade this year:eyes:

10. Have your laugh, though I don't know why |
|
You are addressing an issue that isn't there:shrug: But hey, I suppose everybody needs a coping mechanism, or maybe you're just one of those people who can't stand to see others joyful and likes to piss in the lemonade:shrug: But now that you've gotten your little jollie over nothing, why don't you find some other thread to bring down.

Good to see another fellow MU alum here. The game was just a thing of beauty to behold, everybody was counting us out, including my wife. But after the 98 yd interception return for TD, I told her to watch out, I think we're going to pull this one out, and sure enough.
And I'm ecstatic that Brad Smith went out in such a blaze of glory, it will help his draft chances immensely.
Now if only the basketball team would do something, but sadly I think their win the other night against U of LA-Monroe was one of their last of the season. They have a chance against OK St this weekend, but after that, things look grim. Hopefully they'll get rid of Coach Snyder after this year and put a real coach in.

9. I was at MU for Quinn's first couple seasons... |
|
He spent more time bagging hot undergrads than he did coaching the team
But that aside, I think we may be a little better than you expect. Keep hope alive! Mizzou-rah!

12. I hope that you're right, |

But he still hasn't taught the team how to break down a zone defense yet, and every single team is going to keep throwing them on until we do. Sure, we have a winning record in pre-conference play, but look at how we've lost to the two real teams we've played, Ark and IL. Just miserable.
There is some good talent on the team, but Quinn isn't using it well, and once again he's playing McKinney out of place as a point guard.
I try hard not to be cynical, but damn it's hard.
Now the women's team is going great guns! Eleven straight wins and beat top ranked Baylor last night:woohoo: Perhaps we should move Coach Stein over to the men's side:shrug: And damn, we came real close to a volleyball championship this year, I think we'll win it next year.

11. and hopefully with a new CU coach... |

Colorado will be able to raise its head once again after a very disappointing end to a otherwise okay season.
CU bashers please be nice - not everyone who goes there is bad.

13. Oh I won't bash CU, they're alright in my book |
|
And I forgave them long ago for that whole fifth down thing:grr::evilgrin:
But yeah, I think it is time for a new CU coach. Good luck!

Five bowl wins and 3 losses. Pretty damned good- especially the Nebraska v. Michigan game. My alma mater fought hard and beat those sorry Wolverine asses. Congrats to Texas for taking it to USC.

I was thrilled when Texas put it away on USC's home turf. That was truly fascinating. It was also great to see Texas put down all the "sports commentators" that have been talking trash over the past few weeks. LOL. I hope next year is even better for the Big XII, especially for the Cornhuskers!!!
Go Big Red!
