You're just one humiliating step along the way.

Lowest end of season ranking in a while, but we'll be back next year.

Congrats to your Huskers :toast:

14. I am not bitter
I am not upset at USC losing as much as I am about Texas winning.

I prefer UCLA. If THEY lost to Texas in the Rose Bowl, I would be bitter. :D

Texas fans have been stupid about the rankings. USC earned their #1 spot all year by not only maintaining an enormous winning streak, but by winning some amazing games, like against Notre Dame.

Texas won, and they deserve their new ranking. But that doesn't erase what a great season the Trojans had, and they held their championship on the cusp of 3 years in a row. I don't see Texas winning another one for at LEAST the next 35 years. :P

15. Ok, fair enough
I'm going to spend the off-season deciding which LA team will become my hometown favorite. At this point, I like them both...but I realize I can't keep riding the fence. ;)

Texas fans, stupid about ratings? There's a shocker! You're right though, they had no legitimate claim to #1 until last night.

16. UCLA!
They're a much more liberal school than USC, a snooty private university. What else do you need to know? :D

I wouldn't exactly be a Husker fan, would I? ;)

Convince me of why I should support the football team. Tell me why the coach is better, who the best players are...what should I like about them?

21. true
I can't tell you WHY, other than I DO use classism as a reason. :P The USC students can be elitist snots.

My first rule is to be loyal to southern CA ahead of the rest of the country. I graduated from a Division I college in Washington state, so my college is never in conflict with the PAC-10 teams from there or here. I get to be broadly loyal to a region. :D

My college did produce a starting NFL QB this past decade, and we were ranked #1 for Division I at the same time the Huskies were ranked #1 with the big boys, back in 1991.

If I were to go to grad school right now, it would be at UCLA. :D

22. They may be snots
but they dodge bullets to get to class...doesn't that count? ;)

I cannot be loyal to SoCal football or the PAC-10 ahead of my Huskers. It's simply not going to happen. That would be like asking me to denounce my American citizenship. I understand that Washington was good, but nothing is like Husker Nation. I can't explain it, but ask anyone who's gone to a game at Memorial Stadium. :)

The most I can promise is that once I pick my SoCal school, I will be loyal to it in all games EXCEPT when/if they play the Huskers. Most of the time this won't be an issue. Except USC for the next 2 years and potentially in future bowl games. I will foresake the Big 12 for the school of my choice (as evidenced by my mutany against Texas last night). I will NOT adopt the PAC-10 though.

Honestly, I'm leaning towards UCLA for sentimental reasons. My earliest memory of wanting to move to LA involves begging my mom to buy me a UCLA sweatshirt for Christmas...I think I was 8. ;)

18. Best part is that they did it by beating Michigan
I wish they had played in 1997. They would have kicked the crap out of Michigan.

I remember the when they came into Spartan Stadium (Not sure what exact year, but I think they had Lawrence Phillips then). They annihilated us.

I was glad too see Nebraska stick it to Michigan. Michigan can claim that they were screwed over by the refs but in my mind they had it coming for a long time!

24. The refs sucked, no doubt
and it is bad that Michigan had to blow timeouts to get plays reviewed, but the refs didn't decide the game. Michigan lost fair and square.

I remember that too...1994? 5? Hmmm. All of those ass kickings between 1993-1997 kinda run together... ;)

And yeah, I'm thrilled they beat Michigan! :)

Callahan needs some time. 2007 perhaps? That West Coast offense is a bitch at the college level. It'll happen, though:hi:

28. That depends on your definition
of "back," I suppose.

I mean that teams will no longer look at Nebraska on their schedule and think "YES! Make that a W!" We're going to be taken seriously again.

I didn't mean to imply that we're national champion material.

My point was that it'll take time for Callahan to make them a contender. I only hope Husker fans have the patience. Did I mention that the company I'm employed by is HQ'ed in Lincoln?:toast:

We've gone through a lot for the last few years. Am I not allowed to be happy that the pendulum is finally swinging back the correct way?

Or is it that I'm only supposed to support my team when we're #1?

And if that's your definition of an orgasm, you need better partners.

Jeez. :eyes:
