3. We do share a mutual fondness for 70's cheese!
The Bradfords lived in Sacramento, so I doubt if Sam ever had any cancelled dates with the Bradford daughters. :D

Fenris and I just watched the 1979 version of "Salem's Lot" with David "Hutch" Soul. :D

(insert reference to comparative depths of rabbit holes, ending a state of somnambulence, &c.)

7. Holy God, how I hated that show.
Everyone was so goddamned precious, I wanted to puke.

Magnum PI should have flown his Ferrari over each and every one of them, killing them, and then rolled his own car into a flaming semi tanker of gasoline and save us from that piggish fuck asshole's show.

17. As long as Dr. Quincy performs the autopsies
I am there!

Hated Magnum though. Fucking Selleck's shilling for the NRA and Reagan back then... :puke: Another hack no-talent Republican actor.

Gimme Jim Rockford anyday!

9. Are most people familiar with the author of the original book?
Tom Braden

"In 1975 Braden published the autobiographical novel, Eight is Enough. The book is about a newspaper columnist, his wife and their eight children. The book was adapted into the TV series of the same name which ran 1977 to 1981."

Before there was Alias there was...lol!

I haven't seen the show in a loooooong time, but I might find rewatching it interesting. Or not.

P.S: I don't know anything about that site and haven't even read the link all the way through. Just thought people might be as bemused as I was!

12. Braden went on to be the original "Liberal" host of CNN's Crossfire...
...opposite Pat Buchanan and (when Pat was running for President) Bob "Douchebag" Novakula.

Braden had about the same hairline as Dick Van Patten, but otherwise didn't really resemble his TV alter-ego that much.

Also worthy trivia note: Mark Hamill played David Bradford in the pilot episode of the series. He had to drop out of the show when this little movie he made suddenly became a moderate success.

I'm talking about Corvette Summer, of course

16. Yep
I remember he was the first host from "the left" on Crossfire, with Pat Buchanan on the right. As Abbie Hoffman said at the time, "Crossfire is the left wing of the CIA debating the right wing of the CIA." Seeing how Braden was once in the CIA, this was true. And as I have been telling people for the past 4.5 years on here, CNN has ALWAYS been a right-wing shill network. Nothing new under the sun, folks!

14. I had crushes on most of the girls
at one time or another, particularly Elizabeth (Connie Newton-Needham) and later Mary (Lani O'Grady — who, sadly, died in 2001 of an accidental drug overdose. She was plagued for years with panic attacks and, as a result, drug and alcohol abuse.)
