Poll question: High Fashion Shoes?
I gather the latest fashion in shoes is those pointy toed ones. What do you all think of them? Personally, I think they are extremely horrible looking. I would never wear them, nor would I want to. If a show is not comfortable, there is no way I would wear them--my feet, legs and back would never forgive me.

How about others? Do you wear them? And why?

1. I wear a 9 1/2 wide
The last thing I want to do is draw attention to my feet. Anyhow, high dollar shoes are usually leather.

3. They look great on my wife
and are better looking than the recent square-toed fashion that preceded it. Those were really ugly.

4. I love my high heeled pointy toed boots, they make your foot look smaller
if you wear you wear them with the right pants but basically they are so high (4 1/2 inches) that they are all for show and not for go. I have some lower heeled pointy toed shoes that are actually comfortable.

16. That's one thing I don't have to worry about
is making my feet look smaller. Depending on the shoe, I'm either a 5 1/2 or a 6-6 1/2 and am being told constantly how little my feet are. I still prefer comfort over fashion because my back just doesn't tolerate heels higher than an inch.

6. those pointy-toed atrocities are, thank god, now phasing out...
I like high heels, but could never, ever fit into the pointy part of the shoe. Torture. You'll see a lot of them around for a while, but the newer designs have more rounded toes (also much better than totally square toes).

9. I'm with you on that one
I remember 30 years ago wearing "Earth Shoes" with the lower heel on them. Wore them for quite awhile. Now I wear mules, sliders or anything that is comfortable without being tight. Anything above 1/2" in height is useless to me.

8. I like the way they look on my feet, but I can't wear heels.
My knees just won't tolerate anything more than a 2 inch heel, so that means I'm stuck wearing my doc martens, danskos, new balance and various flats.

I have a pair that I've rarely used for more than a few steps, but that's a role-playing thing.... *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*

comfortable.

A top quality shoe, if it fits right, shouldn't hurt. The pointy shoes (which saw a resurgence in fashion circles starting 3 years ago) can be just as comfy as any other pair of fashionable shoes. Not all shoes are for all feet though, and they are more suited towards a lighter weight woman by virtue of the weight being put onto the balls of the feet.

And as it happens, they're falling out of favor in europe a bit, but I expect to see a lower heel with the pointy toe back for the spring.

They just look fantastic with a smart pair of trousers....

I should add, I have "princess and the pea" feet. I can't wear anything less than top quality shoes or else I'm in agony! I have plantar fasciitis and arthrosis in both feet, so I usually wear Dasnk clogs, Finn or Think! shoes... but since I normally wear the good girl shoes, I get to wear the 'strappy ass sandals' every now and then as a treat, and they are comfy!!!

in the name of "fashion". Is it any wonder the overwhelming majority of foot surgeries are performed on women? It's beyond f***ing sad.

12. It's not the pointy toes--it's the heels. But fashions change.
Your feet should not be pushed down into the points; the points should extend beyond your toes. But the thin, precipitous heels keep me away, even though I can appreciate the look.

Check out Neiman's looks for the spring: www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/template/catT11.jhtml?itemId=cat8560731&parentId=cat000143&masterId=cat000141&cmCat=handbags2

No pointy toes. If fact, there are lots of "wedges" with no toes at all. Some of these resemble the platforms of the 70's but others are do-able. Ballet slippers with round toes can also be found.

(No, I won't be shopping at Neimans's. But knock-offs will be appearing at a nearby Target.)

if I even considered it. In any case, I couldn't care less about what is in fashion. I wear what I like.

19. I don't get today's shoes at all
They remind me of clown shoes. The toes are so pointed that about 3 inches of "toe" space end up being completely empty... Just like Bozo and his big red shoes.

And the heels.... toothpicks. How am I supposed to walk on toothpicks?

28. You do the same as I?
I buy a few fairly classic pieces that last a long time, and then tons of jewelery, hats, scarves, bags, shoes, belts, etc and change my look minute by minute if I want to.
I love it, and my friends are always so surprised "Oh neat outfit" "You always dress so well"... Dudes, I have like, 2 pairs of pants and a handful of skirts and tops

Whats YOUR secret? ;)

29. Pretty much the same!
I put stuff together that most people wouldn't think would go. But it always works. Plus I accessories with jewelry, shoes, belts, scarves, etc. It works. And I, like you, buy few classic pieces and then change it up with the accessories!!

23. I love them.
With a proper fit, they aren't uncomfortable for me, although I do have narrow feet, which helps. They look more elegant, to me. I hate clunky looking shoes. I do have a problem with higher heals, though. I love the look, but I can't wear anything higher than 1.5-2 inch heals for any length of time without killing my feet.

31. I bought and wore a pair
for New Year's Eve because my outfit for dinner demanded it. For a pair of pointy-toed slingbacks, they were surprisingly comfortable. They are not suitable for daily wear or any mileage, however.

The only thing to beware of is the heels, which are as pointy as the toes. I am another satisfied lifelong patient of Dr. Marten, so I am not used to walking on pointy heels at all; I very nearly toppled into another table at the restaurant!
