Have I mentioned that I LOVE SALSA?!
I could eat it by the bucket. I don't really even want the chips, they're just the vessel to my mouth.

3. try making salsa fresca
fresh tomatoes, red onions, garlic, chili peppers, and cilantro.

cheap, simple, ready in 5 minutes, and it's good enough to eat by the bowlful.

a :toast: to salsa.

4. I think I'm going to find some good varieties of tomato for my garden
that I can use for salsa, this year. I haven't attempted homemade salsa in a long time.

6. Healthy too!
Between the tomatoes and chile peppers, that's a lot of Vitamin C.

Yours sounds a lot like mine, but I use white onions and I add a squeeze of lime juice. It can be put on everything, even scrambled eggs - you can eat them rolled up in a tortilla with salsa.

mmmmm, salsa.

24. It's a classic recipe...
...although the traditional is white onions, seems like Flay has done a twist on it by using red ones. I'll have to try that.

I just chop all the ingredients and mix them. Not grinded at all. It really is festive looking. The red (tomatos), green (cilantro), and white (onions) are said to represent the colors in the Mexican flag.

Love the Bobby Flay program, btw.

7. but there are consequences,
knowwhatimean.

my recipe:
one large can progresso crushed tomatoes
one diced bell pepper, peel before dicing, it takes the bitterness out and makes the salsa sweet hot
1-1/2 diced medium yellow onions
1/2 can pickled sliced jalapenos
dash of celery salt
one cup vinegar
teaspoon of powdered garlic or tablespoon of fresh minced

put in glass two quart jar for 3-5 days, the garlic ferments the mixture, while the vinegar breaks down the vegetables without making them mushy.

actually, it's kinda like redneck kimchee.

19. Reminds me of a song:
Bravely bold Sir Robin
Brought forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh, brave Sir Robin!
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave Sir Robin.

He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken!
To have his kneecaps split, and his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin.

His head smashed in and his heart cut out,
And his liver removed and his bowls unplugged,
And his nostrils raked and his bottom burnt off,
And his penis--

Robin (interputing): That's...That's, uh... That's enough music for now, lads. It looks like there's dirty work afoot.
*******

Brave Sir Robin ran away. (No!)
Bravely ran away away.... (I didn't!)
When Danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled (No!!)
Yes brave Sir Robin turned about (I didn't!)
And gallantly chickened out..

Bravely bravely bravely bravely (I never did!)
Bravely bravely bravely bravely (All lies!)
Bravely bravely brave Sir Robin! (I never!)

30. When I had my garden I'd make my own Salsa Fresca.
Fresh tomatoes, green peppers, cilantro, green onions and chiles, all grown in my backyard.
The kids would consume that stuff with tortilla chips by the truckloads.

My friend and I watched a video and *attempted* to do it. It was fun and marginally hysterical. She is, in fact bringing over a salsa dancing video this weekend, though!

35. I took a belly dancing class once.
It was fun, but the teacher weighed about 15 lbs....didn't exactly fit my stereotype of the voluptuous belly dancer I'd been expecting. She was nice, but practiced a type of bellydancing in the "caberet style" (who knew there were different styles?? I didn't), which meant the movements were much more refined, she wore special little flat shoes....

After years and years of African dancing classes, I'm more drawn to the more earthy, barefoot style of dancing, with the more open hips and broader movements.

Plus, it didn't help that my belly dancer teacher, on top of being incredibly skinny, was EXTREMELY shy, personality-wise. Interesting combination....

I only took a 6 wk series from her, then I bailed. I did, however, make my first very own belly dancing veil during the class and learned some very cool sexy tricks with it.

The hubby was impressed. :)
