I know it's unavoidable and all, but dammit.

Dead Like Me (season one) keeps skipping!

By the way... Dead Like Me? I expected to hate it like no one's business, but I gotta say... It's a pretty nifty little show.

1. I really like Dead LIke Me too
We watched both seasons from Netflix within the last few months, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I wish they'd kept the show going.

I've been fortunate to never get a defective disc from Netflix, though a couple have been lost in transit ...

2. It's really fun and light (and dark)
It's the kind of thing that network television just seems incapable or unwilling to run.

I'm a really negative person by nature, so I relate very well with George.

4. network tv wants nothing to do with death
that doesn't move product, after all ;)

I relate to George too ... I wouldn't consider myself negative, generally, but all the negative/cynical/bitter responses always occur to me, so I get a kick out of her ... I especially like that, while she occasional struggles with that negativity, it's pretty much always the obvious/appropriate choice when measured against Delores Herbig's incessant/repressive positivity :)

9. I love George.
She's such a snarky little bitch. Even when she's happy she looks sullen. I totally relate to her.

It was a great cast IMHO.

And a very upbeat show. As one of the producers said: "Once you've established death as your premise what can you talk about? Life."

12. Indeed. Good casting all around really.
Cynthia Stevenson as the mom was another good choice.

Good premise. Sharp, quick. They don't lay things on too thick.

I like it a hell of a lot, actually.

5. We finally dropped them. It was sad, but I couldn't take getting
three-quarters of the way into the movie just to have it skip, and more often than not, become unplayable for the remainder of the film. This never happened during the first year or two of our membership.

Too bad, they're a good blue company, but NONE of my emails of complaint were answered. I won't go the Blockbuster route, just can't do it, so I guess it's buying DVDs that I know will be good for multiple viewings and downloading occasional stuff from the Apple Music Store.

7. You try wiping/blowing it off?
If it still won't play, sucks because y'gotta wait three more days. But they're really good about replacing bad discs.

8. I gave it a good cleaning.
It didn't fix that one episode that was bad, but both of the ones I watched after played fine.

Generally I've been pretty lucky with Netflix. A few months back one of the Curb Your Enthusiasm discs arrived cracked, but other than that things have been great.

11. Yeah, I've had two that skipped
and one that was cracked. Never a problem, though the delay sucks. Netflix rocks.

13. I'm entirely happy with the service overall.
My biggest problem is forgetting to put them in the mailbox before I leave for work. It's a terrible feeling to realize I've forgotten and have to wait an extra day for my next arrival!

My queue is at 50 and getting longer.

14. Great show....
DH bought that set for me when I had knee surgery (wanna borrow mine?) I adore George and Rube; hate Joy(Less), though, and I hope that the girl that played Reggie goes on to something else.

I miss it.

I've had good luck with netflix, but had a similar problem with my Solstice present - he bought me The Chosen Collection of Buffy, and I got to season 2, disk 4... and realized disk 4 was missing. EEEK. Barnes and Noble is taking the set back, fortuntely.

It's not like it could have been a less pivotal disk, either... (that's the disk with the episodes where Angel goes bad....)

15. Had a
We had a problem with a disc that we rented from Netflix. It wouldn't play at all, even after cleaning it. We reported the problem and sent the disc back. They sent us the replacement and it turned out that they sent us the same damn, unplayable disc!
:banghead:

I do love Netflix. We had Blockbuster Online for about 3 months before we had Netflix. Blockbuster Online was HORRIBLE -- very slow turn around time (we waited 9+ days on more than a few occasions), the majority of the movies in our queue were listed as "long wait" and they never answered e-mails with anything other than a form letter.

that I bought to fix my own discs, but it's come in handy MANY times for Netflix rentals :). Not too expensive, and it will fix any but the deepest scratches. It's a very handy thing to have around for personal use, and the Netflix use is just the icing on the cake :)

The reviews on Amazon are comical. The ones that are unhappy with it seem to be folks that can't follow directions. People saying this "broke" their disk . . . my ass, it's impossible to break a disk with this thing.
