Good Friday Morning, Everyone!
:donut::hi:
How the heck are you today? I hope well! I have the day off from work, so I have several errands I'm going to run a little later, then back to work tomorrow and off again on Sunday. Do you have any big plans for today and the weekend?

Enjoy your day off!

I think I'll be picking out some 12" x 12" squares of Bluestone since I'm giving up on finding a 48" x 48" slab.

I purchased this in October.
It will have a heat shield on the bottom but I want a burn proof surface underneath.

I don't remember, we may have discussed this before.

4. Good morning Clint.
:hi:

and a happy last day of Christmas to you.

You get to gloat at me today, working while you're at leisure....

Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend in Oxford - we're going to meet for lunch, and get progressively less sober for the afternoon (though not actually drunk one hastens to add).

12. Very little's actually planned - but a good time will be had.
We tend to switch between utterly venial comments about good-looking men, to highly intellectual topics, to gossip about mutual friends at quite a break-neck speed.

Also, I believe that Brokeback Mountain is out today over here. I saw an advert for it when the television was on a few days ago (I don't really watch adverts, but it caught my eye), I'll have to see that soon.

Greekspeak has no desire to see it though. x( We never can agree on a movie to watch together. He only really likes comedies. Anything else is banal in his eyes.

19. I doubt that there will be any fuss about it
Unlike over in the U.S.

How long before you can rent the D.V.D.? If you can't drag Greekspeak to the cinema.

I don't quite see how anything other than comedy is banal - comedy is the banal form, it's supposed to be banal.

That's what HE thinks. No Sci-Fi, no Dramas. It won't be out on DVD until some time after it leaves the cinema, so I won't get to see it for a while. x(

23. Such is life I suppose.
If we all had the same tastes the world would be hideously boring.

My family don't understand my taste in films - I'll happily watch anything which makes me think, plus the occasional piece of nonsense - so my D.V.D. collection includes "Farenheit 451" next to "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" next to "Natural Born Killers". It makes sense to me at least.

I HATE to go to the theatres by myself, but I guess I need to learn to go alone if I want to see some of the ones out right now. Narnia, King Kong to name two. Not to mention Brokeback Mountain.

30. Going to the cinema by oneself isn't much fun.
Naria is a very good film - especially if you like the books. I haven't seen the others.

I need to find a friend or few locally who want to see Brokeback.

I may well be going to see "A Man for All Seasons" in London soon as well; I've seen the film (which is from the '60s) but there's a new production on which got some good reviews.

47. Brokeback's got a stunning review from the Telegraph.
This is the most right-wing of the British serious newspapers, frequently called the "Torygraph".

Rich, tender, bold and brilliant
(Filed: 06/01/2006)

Brokeback Mountain (15 cert, 134 min)

With Woody Allen's Match Point being released this week too, the New Year is proving to be a time for directors with lapsed reputations to show their heads again. King of the comebacks is Ang Lee, whose Hulk was mauled by critics and snarled at by audiences, but who has bounced back with Brokeback Mountain, already touted as one of the major contenders for this year's Oscars.

Adapted by Larry McMurtry from a short story by E Annie Proulx, it's a self-consciously epic, superbly acted, emotionally compelling and visually sumptuous love story that is infinitely deeper, richer and more tender than its pre-release label as a "gay western" might suggest.

No plans, as usual. I'm so boring. I did all my errands yesterday and the day before. I brought my doggies to the pet food store yesterday. NEVER AGAIN! Each of them by themselves are fine and mostly well-behaved, but the two of them together in that store.... OMG! I think I got a breif idea of what it's like for mothers of toddler age kids. I'm just glad I know the guy who was working yesterday.

have died yesterday. Lol! Let's just say they made a big mess, and they tried to shoplift some things. The older one is usually mellow and easy-going, but the puppy gets her all riled up sometimes.

I'm not boring overall, I just don't go out much anymore. Between the SO's insane work schedule and school I just don't have the energy I used to a couple years ago. I used to party quite a bit, though some other things had a bit to do with that, too.

Have you seen billyskank lately? I've only seen him once since I've been back.

(Sorry--you know how many Americans think you Brits are always saying things like that? It's because of the coffee grinder that I thought of it.) It's corking to see you this morning!

OK, I don't want to wind you up, just yet. It is great to see you this morning. It sounds like you have a great time in Oxford planned. I went there once long ago. We also went by the Rollwright Stones, a stone circle said to have been a group of knights planning to betray their king who were therefore turned to stone. I have a picture I like of when I camped on a mountain in Wales (I'd been hitchhiking in North Wales looking for that particular mountain) but it's a slide and the scanner cannot handle that.

Did I mention something about an ordered mind earlier? I'm all over the road today! You will give me up for an idiot.

Let me get some more coffee and some breakfast and I'll try again. I want to ask about the Narnia movie, too.

I hadn't heard of the Rollwright Stones, but the country actually has lots of henges (the Stonehenge simply being the most famous); I'm glad that you managed to survive Wales, did you get to any of the places where they switch from speaking English to Welsh as soon as somebody else arrives just to confuse foriengers (by which they mostly mean English).

There, I'm off to a better start this time! How is your day shaking out?

I know less than 30 words of Welsh, but I speak them like a native. I went into the little i information trailer somewhere in outer Snowdonia to ask (in English) the help of the two ladies within in finding Castell y Gwynt. They didn't know it but said practically any mountain at all would be very enjoyable. They also talked between themselves quite a lot in Welsh. When I was headed out the door I turned and said, Diolch yn fawr! (Thanks a lot!) and the one lady got very red in the face while the other one laughed and said to her, "He's better than you are!" I have no idea what she had said about me, but she didn't know that and she was embarrassed.

Did you see that RetroLounge had me locked in a room with sundog? And I hope you saw the very lovely things Khashka said of you. Very apt.

Though trying to explain eBay auctions to my slightly insane office-mate has been driving us a wee bit mad.

Sounds like you speak much more Welsh than I - which is none at all. There is a Welsh language television channel on satelitte over here, it's amusing to switch on when one's slightly drunk.

You're very lucky if you're going to get locked in a room with sundog, as is sundog for that matter. I try to avoid lovely things that people say about me, they merely make my arrogance and ego even worse than they are already.

45. We're about to make the biggest mistake...or best decision of our
lives this weekend. We found a home on a piece of property (10 acres). It has always been MrG and my dream to have some space to breathe in. It's a new construction, foreclosure (from the contractor who was being greedy when he lost the house, so I don't feel as bad as I would if it was just a Joe Schmoe), 2400 s.f. with a 400 s.f. bonus room over the garage and a walkout basement. We're going to look at it tomorrow, along with a couple of other (good deal) properties...and see where we end up. :scared:

I'll probably be asking for input about my cover letter and supporting documents over the weekend. Yes, it's that big!

My daughter called me at 1:30 this morning. Her boyfriend (first one) broke it off last night. So now we're taking care of a first broken heart.

I reviewed a cd for a friend's local band. They play next Friday and I've been asked to come. I'll take my cameras and maybe (with permission) be able to post some photos. He's the one I've been having impure thoughts about.

Next?

59. It's funny to be responding to your "good morning!" thread in the eve.
but here goes:

Hi Clintmax!!! Have I told you lately how much I appreciate your cheerful enthusiasm and your good morning threads?? You were in the list I posted of DU'ers I appreciate on the "say something nice about a DU'er" thread. :)

I'm excited b/c tomorrow my hubby and I are going up to SF for an overnite away from the kids. We've got tix to see Jerry Seinfeld and we're staying at a very cool place. Should be great fun!!

I'll probably post about it later....

Ciao for now, buddy!
:hi:
