 in his honor For every little kiss there's a little teardrop For every single thrill there's another heartache The road is rough The going gets tough
<1: Yes> love is a hurtin' thing Oh, love is a hurtin' thing
When you're in my arms I'm a king on a throne But when we're apart I walk the streets alone One day happiness The next day, loneliness
When love brings so much joy why must it bring such pain Guess it's a mystery that nobody can explain
Maybe I'm a fool to keep on loving you 'Cause there may come a time you'll break my heart in two But I want you so I want you though I know that
Love is a hurtin' thing Oh, love is a hurtin' thing

8. I loved his duets with Dianne Reeves. |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-06-06 11:15 AM by CBHagman
Some years back Rawls made an album for Capitol called "At Last," and it included some duets with Dianne Reeves (the terrific jazz singer you saw in "Good Night, and Good Luck"). I'd only heard the top 40-type Rawls stuff, not his jazz, so it was a revelation. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/10737897/Link to information on "At Last." I don't advocate for or against Amazon. :-) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000005HF5/ref=pd_sim_m_2/104-7467381-1068748?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=5174

13. Lou had the voice of an angel. I am glad I had the chance to see |
|
him in person whe he was going strong.
Dianne Reeves is fantastic. I hung out with her last week at a charity concert I emceed part of for New Orleans hurricane relief (I got to introduce Ellis Marsallis and Nicholas Payton). The piano player in her band, Peter Martin, is a friend of ours. He organized the concert and asked me to speak at it. Dianne is as nice of a person as you will meet and she has a voice that sends chills down my spine.
