My knowledge of Megadeth, sadly, is limited to a greatest hits comp, their latest album, and a few random downloads.
I really need to go pick up their reissues. They kicked ass on Gigantour last year!

Agreed. We had a discussion, I believe, a long time ago when I got to see the video for the first time. It's queued after CtE.

19. Oh oh! Play their cover of Anarchy in the UK! |
|
Ok, so I'm not a huge Megadeth fan or anything but I had some fun listening to them here and there over the years. About 3, 4 years ago maybe more, I forget, a friend of mine was working for a promoter in town. One Saturday morning she calls me up, wakes up my boyfriend and I and says "Hey dudes, wanna go see Megadeth? Megadeth....unplugged?!"
We thought it was a lie, but turns out it wasn't. We were game so we ask when.
"In about...20 minutes or so. It's at noon."
For some reason, Megadeth unplugged at noon is a detail that cracks me up every time so if I may:
Anyhoo, we get our very hungover selves there and it turns out the thing is this event for radio contest winners so everybody there but us were ultra-mega-huge Megadeth fans and they were all dressed up for the occasion. (As any contest winner for a favorite band contest thing would probably do). It was a pretty small group--maybe 100 people or so or less even. And--here's another funny detail--Internet streaming was apparently a big new thing then so it was simulcast on the station's website. While the regular station was playing commercials, the internet stream played the Q&A between Megadeth and fans. Also, I believe we were asked to "Scream and show the whole World Wide Web how much you love MEGADETH Unplugged!!"
Ok hold on:
Ow. Ok ok...so they play their songs, we all have fun, we enjoy witty banter between the fans and the band, we rock out when called for, but then. Then. THEN Megadeth busts into what felt like a 15 minute version--acoustic, mind you--of the Sex Pistols' Anarchy in the UK.
I'm sorry:
It was quite possibly the weirdest thing I've ever experienced, concert-wise, but it was a lot of fun.
The End.
