What does one do with a deer head?
There was the head of a deer near the entrance of the woods where I walk my dog today... kind of like a hunter just got rid of it from his truck and left it there. Really creepy and I didn't want to touch it but didn't know what to do. My dog was uninterested but I'm sure other dogs will be interested.

I called Animal Control and they said they could only pick up a dead animal from a place with an address.

3. No joke.
Bury it. 2 feet minimum. Problem solved.

I understand it's icky, but it's the best way.

4. Good idea. I'll put my garden shovel in my car,

I wish hunters wouldn't do stuff like this.

And very inconsiderate. Also, it draws predators and scavengers. And Godfather jokes. :-)

Or their fridge.

7. The first thing I thought of was the scene from the Godfather
Seeing it at the edge of the woods is bad enough- inside it would have been revolting.

I don't have any arch enemies. Maybe I could ship it to someone in Washington DC?

I think you've solved your own problem. SHipping would be a bitch though.

11. OK, however they may buy it from you for a few 'bucks'
Seriously. Taxidermists sometimes look for specimens to work on, so that they have some examples of their work for their shop.

Just the image of it in my head is giving me vegetarian thoughts, and I am not a vegetarian!

15. Ewww!
You don't want to be close to it! You want to dig a hole a little bit away (from the smell), then drag the thing to the hole using some gloves you don't want anymore. Don't be looking at it, it's decomposing and critters like that. Drag it into the hole, throw in the gloves, bury as fast as you can. A mask would be good. Better yet, get some guy to do if for you. Pay a teenager?

Back when I was a kid, some foul death stench was emanating from the woods across from my grandparents house. I told my grandmother who took a shovel and investigated. She came back and said that a (forget what exactly it was, maybe a raccoon) had died, and she had buried it. It was all so matter-of-fact. Business as usual for folks in rural areas.

She was great.

17. This didn't smell at all- I think it may have been frozen
in someone's vehicle. I'm hoping that somebody else takes care of it- and that nobody's dog gets ahold of it before they do.

Animals die in the woods all the time, and the dogs find that interesting, but usually you don't find the head of a large animal just appearing out of nowhere!

19. I could return it to the deers family, but that might be in poor taste...
considering that the rest of him has probably been used to make chili.

22. So when I went back there today the deer head was gone
I'm pretty sure Animal Control picked it up anyway. The thing is, it had been tagged by the hunter, so hopefully he'll get tracked down himself for not disposing of it properly.
