11. Kitchens usually require a paint that is durable, washable, and

water/stain resistant due to moisture, etc., from cooking/cleaning. It is amazing how much moisture there can be that you're not aware of from cooking, washing dishes, dishwashers, etc.

Enamel is usually best in kitchens, and enamel always on trim since woodwork, especially around doors, gets a lot of abuse through daily life.

Oil based paint is best in a kitchen to resist staining and moisture. That doesn't limit it this to enamels, and can be found in satin gloss paints. Latex paint in kitchens doesn't work as well.

If you have an enamel or a satin gloss currently on the walls sanding before painting is a good idea to give a surface that will allow the new paint to adhere. It also can ease the job and make the end result much smoother if you use a primer on the walls after sanding.

Hope these suggestions and info are helpful for you :)

Feel free to PM me about design any time :hi:

8. A couple of online sites to Play with re: painting rooms
http://www.behr.com

Click on Color Smart to begin the program

And

http://www.sherwinwilliams.com

Click on Homeowner, then next page click on Visualizer

As a designer have found Sherwin Williams and Dutch Boy to be the best paints for the money and true color, as well as reproducing the original paint color you used or getting a computer match for a color you want.

WalMart paint is thin and cheap, and more paint has to be bought to do the coverage.

Glidden paint is so-so for coverage and actual paint color to chip comparison.

Behr paint is OK, but not always reliable in coverage or color reproduction.

Sears paint is actually Dutch Boy.

Just sharing...feel free to PM me anytime for interior design questions :hi:
