TV tech. help
On the new TVs, the plasma and all those other fancy smancy ones, does the letterbox formatted DVD's still play in just the center of the screen, or will they fill up the whole screen?

are designed with letterbox (widescreen) movies in mind. You lose the "black bars" on the top and bottom of the screen, of course the old 5:4 movies get black bars on the side of the screen in this case, or you can have the tv "stretch" the image, but that leads to distortions. Of course, this only applies to screens with dimensions of 16 : 9 or so, like most HDTVs and some old analog ones.
