Moth population explosion?
It hit me today, like the proverbial two-by-four between the eyes.
I read the phrase "like a moth to the flame".

Back in the day, when we lit our way and our dwellings with torches, firepits/places, candles, oil lamps, and eventually gas, millions of moths must have been self immolated.

Today we use electric or gas elements, safely enclosed in glass.
The moth is still drawn to the light, but now only suffers a slight bump on the head.

Is there a moth population explosion?
If not, why not?

Or, are there a lot of head trauma suffering, brain damaged moths flying around?
Inquiring minds want to know.
;-)
