Opinions wanted about Delbert McClinton's music, I'm going to a

benefit event/ Mardi Gras party & not familiar with his music. Does he do a good country music concert?

1. I suppose you might call it "country"...

Delbert has one of the best voices in the music business. A lot of his stuff is more easily classified as Blues, however. His best work is (in my opinion) Live from Austin. It's one of my favorite CDs as a matter of fact.

I've heard him live probably a half dozen times, and he always delivers. You won't be disappointed.

Delbert McClinton is an incredible musician and I am officially jealous.

4. Oh, actually I was afraid he was too "country" for my taste so this is

great news! So, I can get a few extra tickets if any DU'ers would like to experience a Mobile Mardi Gras Ball!

9. I am jealous, also. A guy I worked with at my college radio station

got me into Delbert McClinton. He is amazing!!

5. He's the real deal, a genuine roots influenced artist.

I'd say check out www.allmusic.com and read his bio. He does a neat mix of music combining all kinds of stuff from the '50s through the '80s. He showed John Lennon how to play harmonica while on a tour of England.
