Poll question: Who is your favorite GOD??
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 03:19 PM by The Sushi Bandit
These are REAL Gods!

Not those 3rd generation made-up ones from the last 2000 years.

Easy.
It means the left handed hummingbird.Or the southern warrior.

It's the obsidian blades and cutting people's hearts out that are difficult.

19. She is fascinating
A goddess of knowledge, a goddess of war, a goddess of poets and singers and writers.

I find her very complex. Like the process of writing.

Unless you write, truly write, you'll never endurstand why we talk about the muse. Sounds like airy fairy crap to most people - but it's real. And Athene is a good patron.

28. You are 14 years old??????????????????
Wow!

I never thought of you as a kid!

You are obviously very eloquent and care about your craft. But getting published at 14 is tough. So lie.

There is a precedent for it - many young writers have pretended to be older, many female writers have pretended to be male. Whatever most people think, writing is tough work. Getting published is tougher.

If you are willing, would you send me a sample of your work? I know when I write, it's very personal and I don't want anyone to see it. It takes a great deal of courage to show it to an editor, even...... the thought that someone might actually read it is terrifying.

But if you ar up for it.... PM me some of your writing.

Khash.

55. Your best bet
is small magazines.

I sold a few poems first, but what got me noticed was a chapter from a novel, it paid nothing, but people started asking "what else have you got?"

Truth is most of your ealy stuff is gonna be done for free, in mags that pay nothin;. But it gets you noticed. Best poem I wrote nada in cash,Best short story I wrote - one and a half cents per word. Quite good for an untested writer but it doesn't pay for groceries,

That's very interesting. I've known girls with that name.

The Hindu gods that most appeal to me are Ganesh and Kali.

I find Hinduism fascinating - but it's a very complex religion. And unlesss you grew up in it, very hard to truly understand.

21. Yeah, you can't just read a book
and think you've got it.

I've read the Hindu holy books. I want to read them in the original, not translation. But my sanskrit totally sucks.

But I have had some fascinating conversations with Hindus... I'd like to have more such conversations.

I'm also fascinated by Islam. I've read the Koran (in English). The current troubles make it hard to speak to people about their religion. Sad but true, I know several muslims who feel uncomfortable speaking about their religion. Same with Hindus - most are Indian or Pakistani and their darker skin makes them suspect. That's sad.

Khash.

16. I've always been partial to Qat
QAT (Polynesia) Creator god. Qat was born when his mother, a stone, suddenly exploded. Qat made the first three pairs of men and women by carving them from wood and playing drums to make them dance. Qat stopped night from going on forever by cutting it with a hard red stone, which is the dawn. Qat sailed away in a canoe filled with all manner of wonderful things, leaving behind the legend that he would one day return.

Okay, so the "Will return one day" thing is kind of played, but I still like him.

47. Inanna, the Sumerian Queen of Heaven
The daughter of the Sun god An and the Moon goddess Nana, goddess of love, fertility, and war...she is young, beautiful, strong, and independent. In modern times she's often referred to by her Akkadian name of Ishtar. The most famous myth concerning her is "the Descent of Inanna," which tells the story of her descent into the underworld, death, resurrection, and choosing a replacement for herself in the world of the dead.

74. Forseti
Patron god of the Frisians and giver of their laws. Silence had to be kept while drinking from the spring on his holy island, which he had brought forth from the rock with his axe, and beasts on the island could not be harmed. In the Old Norse sources, he appears as the son of Balder, and Nanna, and whose hall Glitnir, "Glistening," is pillared with gold and thatched with silver; he is also a settler of lawsuits and quarrels.
