3. You can't spell "suck" without "uk"
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 06:36 PM by Scout1071
Alright, I know you could say "ku" as well. It's the beer talking.

Saw your girl, Ashley.

Edited to add that I hope we play a home-home series with you guys annually. At least more often. Great program, great fans. And of course, your beloved Rupp is a Kansas disciple.

24. Yea, but Kentucky only shot 24 percent from the field, so I don't...
...think we could expect much more. I would like that as well. Although, some UK fans may not. Some actually still remember Pitino's first year, 1989 I think, when you guys blew us not just out of the gym but out of the state 150-95. Horrible, horrible game.

career at Kentucky.

Beware of the Phog baby!

I had a chance to visit with a couple of NBA scouts (one of whom played on that 1989 Kansas team) during the game. Rondo is great, but we agreed that he just doesn't have a supporting cast. I'm sorry that Morris wasn't able to play. I Would like to see Kentucky's complete game.

Brandon Rush is really starting to turn it on. I hope he sticks around another year.

31. Tubby doesn't convince me. His teams just don't seem to play for...
...him like Pitino or even Eddie Sutton's team did. He can't recruit/has a crappy eye for talent. Plus, the only really good coaching move he's made that I can remember is when he went small against Duke in the 1998 tournament just as Duke was pulling away. Other than that, a lot of disappointment. If Kentucky doesn't turn things around, Tubby could be on his way out the door.

33. True, but he does seem to be a pretty good guy.
He's done some decent recruiting, but it seems he has missed out on a few blue chips.

Like I said, Rondo's really good. He just needs some help. If he played with better players, he'd be great. I looked up at one point and he had zero assists. It wasn't that he didn't dish the ball, it's that nobody else could score after that!

Now, having said that, I love the defensive style of Self's teams. I call Russell Robinson "Bird Dog." Cause he is all freakin' over anyone who comes near him. Quick hands and notches a lot of steals.

4. They got off easy, 73-46.
Last time they came to town, KU scored 150 points.

Good times.

5. A&M finally has a decent program again.
My freshman year the old crusty, but kick-ass Shelby Metcalf was fired. We went through Kermit Davis (who was in town long enough to get us on probation), Tony Barone and Melvin Watkins - all guys who came from small schools with one good NCAA run. Now we have Billy Gillispie and we went to the NIT final 8 last year. Not that great, but for us it's HUGH!!!11!!

6. I've been watching them improve.
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 06:44 PM by Scout1071
We are a little lopsided with the the football and basketball programs right now. But both are making strides. KU football is coming on again and now A&M is showing some promise in basketball. I can't recall their names at the moment, but you had a couple of bruisin' big men last year.

Edited to note that I just read today's game was Tubby Smith's worst ever defeat in 9 years as head coach at UK. Ouch.

Oh hey - we're on the TV right now - against Tech. We're getting pounded. :(

But I did go for pizza and a beer(s), Miller Lite, after the game. Tip-off was early - 11 AM.

I'm not a huge beer drinker anymore. Wine is the preferred.

20. I'm a UNC alum
and always like to see Kansas win (except when they play Carolina of course). I especially like to see Kentucky go down. What was the game like? Did Kansas play that well or did Kentucky play bad.

BTW, Thanks for sending Roy back home to Chapel Hill where he belongs.

36. Great. They won 73-46.
Worst loss in Tubby's career as head coach.

They are starting to "gel." And Brandon Rush is coming on. He is by far the best pure athlete I've seen at KU since Paul Pierce. He was running on all cylinders today, offensively and defensively. He ended with 24 points and at least 12 rebounds.

37. Glad to hear it and I look
forward to the possibility of UNC meeting Kansas in the tournament. We were given very little chance of making it, but the way we are playing it is pleasantly surprising and we could make it. If we don't have a meltdown. BTW, we beat NC State by 13 today.

I think it appropriate that my 400th post came on a Kansas/UNC discussion. Go Kansas and Go UNC!:toast:

25. who's going to win the conference this year?
Preseason I thought my Sooners would have a good chance, but they had a bonehead loss in Lincoln today, and they've got you guys on the road this year. Oh well, anything's still possible.

Great game today! (and by that I mean the jayhawks played great--the game itself was kind of boring from a 3rd party perspective ;) Still, I'm sure it was a blast in person ...)

They seem to be "clicking". Texas looks really good. Iowa St is pretty good too.
