Major painting emergency!!! |
|
So, my SO who worked in a design place, right? SHE FORGOT TO SEE IF THE PAINT ON THE WALL WAS OIL-BASED. So... after primer coat and first coat, it sucked. So, we called a local paint store, who said to scrape it off ASAP. The problem is, about 30% of the way was too dry to come off, 50% come off down to the original, and the rest is mottled. We used the solvent to try to make it come off via scrubbing, but no frigging go. OMG. We have cats, so don't want to really use much more toxic stuff or sandpaper the walls.
Question: can we reprime it and repaint it? OIl-Based primer? Latex primer? Paint? If we;ve screwed it up, my question is this: if we paint it, how long before it peels and cracks? If it's 2-3 years, that's fine right now, because we;ve thrown about $100 away.
God, what a horrible 12 hours....
Thanks.
