What music have you put on this weekend?
I'm still listening to the CDs I got for Christmas: today I heard Saving Jane - Girl Next Door, Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have It So Much Better, and Julie Gribble - So Typical. Got great CDs.

Also heard some songs from Morningwood. Loved them! Some critics have it wrong by calling them contrived. The lead singer exudes sexuality but not in a Britney way, and the music isn't mannered. Any less slick and the music wouldn't be a good fit for the songs. Morningwood sounds much better than the acclaimed Yeah Yeah Yeahs IMO. I'll likely be getting their CD on Jan. 10th.

What are you listening to?

3. Hi, GOPisEvil!

Julie Gribble is kind of alt-countryish, and I think you might like her. Like Stacie Rose, another recent favorite of mine, she mixes a touch of country with rootsy (but hooky) rock and folk.

14. What's your favorite CD of Kate's Aerial?
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 11:15 PM by mvd
I've only heard the first CD, and it's good. IMO it beats Fiona's effort.

Night, all! Happy listening. :hi:

19. A Sky of Honey
A Sea of Honey has some great songs but A Sky of Honey? The more I listen the better it gets. Who but Kate could pull this off? Duets with birds? Are you crazy? But she does it! The story of one woman's day. And her appreciation of it, Incredibly sensual.

But on the first CD? Singing Pi to over a hundred decimal places! And it doesn't come across as a stunt so much as a love song.

Khash

15. Clutch: Blast Tyrant
had it on continuous loop on my trucks CD player since DEC 27th.

groove is not a strong enough word.....rut sounds too negative...trench is close, funky is too glib.

i'm thinking the only way to describe it is: thunk.

yes, Blast Tyrant is thunky.

BTW: Are we being snobbish?

17. Oh no, not the snob thing again
As a mod, I stayed out of that one the other night. LOL

I don't care about how snobby the choices are here - I just like seeing what's being listened to. :hi:

22. yeah, just kidding.
these threads are great: i go look at what everyone else is listening too, and maybe expand my horizons.

unfortunately i can't listen to anything right now (dialup) - but i would like to check out Saving Jane!

the "snobby thing" is kinda funny, huh? sometimes you can pet the sharks, sometimes you end up with a stump.
