Just finished upholstering my chair wanna see?
Got it at a flea market type place. This is the second time I've recovered it. The first time I did it it lasted about 3 days the cat yacked on it. I tryed to spot clean it and it bled through
the fabric. Wow was I sad all that work for nothing.
Finally decided to re-do it again. Bought a drape
and had enough fabric to cover it and make a pillow.
Made sure I covered the batting with heavy plasic
see how long before it gets yacked on this time.

2. Sure
Its really not that hard. I taught myself.
Just remove the old covering and use it as a pattern.

5. Very nice work!
Have you tried Scotch Guarding the fabric? When I bought my sofa the saleswoman told me to give it two good coats of SG, letting it dry well between. She said she has cats too and that helps. Luckily, I haven't had to test the theory yet -- no accidents so far!

Good luck. By the way, I have a chair that needs recovering, too....

13. Good idea
I have a can of Scotch Guard.
I used Spot shot to take out the stain...I use
it on everything works great. I guess it just
caused the old batting to bleed.

It looks lovely.

Now, I have a very similar chair that desperately needs recovering. Could you make a housecall in California? :)

23. Doing projects...
Edited on Sun Jan-08-06 01:55 PM by brook
are really rewarding, aren't they?

I got my oversized desk, printer stand, etc. carted off yesterday - making the little back room a virtual clean slate. I plan to paint, maybe resurface the floor, move the sewing machine in - create a peaceful projects area. No more miles of cables and piles of paper! Of course that'll mean I'll need to tackle the other rooms eventually.

One of my first projects in this apartment was the bath. Put up bead board, changed the faucets and light fixtures and hung up some straw hats - typical beach cottage look.

Be sure & take pics of your bath for us !

24. ok I will
I figure its winter good time to get some in the
house projects done. In all my bathrooms they glued mirrors to the wall with that tacky looking
oak trim around them. Well I've got the mirror off and the trim. I want a nice oval mirror.
I've got some sanding to do.

26. Look for mirrors
at church, estate, garage & flea market sales. You probably know that, huh?

I used to buy & sell and often picked up mirrors for $5. In fact, I have a 5 buck oval one in my guest room.

The 'perfect' one will find you, I'm sure!

enough to find one. The new ones are not cheap.
I bought a nice gilded frame at an auction that
I put a mirror in the perfect piece for my foyer.
I dont want a super plain one or a busy one either.
