Homer finds out from his Dad that he has a long-lost half-brother conceived from an affair his Dad had many years ago...
Ends up the brother is a multimillionaire auto magnate in Michigan, and with no family of his own, takes in Homer's family very eagerly.
Overcome by love for Homer, he lets him design his own car to boost sales. He thinks Homer will bring a 'back to basics/common man' touch to their designs.
The above result backfired, and drove his brother to bankruptcy.
