He had to wear all these wigs.

4. Terry Jones had to be a housewife a lot too, although I think Eric had him
definitely beat in the wig and dress department.

7. I agree.
But Terry Jones looks better old:

What's he doing? I'm aware of what the others mostly do, but never heard of Terry Jones for a long time ...

10. He's written a book, among other things
And writes a column for the Guardian.

Well the end of the year is as good a time as any to distribute prizes. And first is the Gary Glitter Cup for Self-Restraint, to Tony Blair.

18. He's also done several history programs for the BBC
one on the crusades, one on medieval britain and one on the history of numbers. The first two have accompanying books.

Crusades

Medieval Lives

Also, his "Goblin Companion" (illustrated by Brian Froud), which contains the goblins he then based his screenplay for "Labyrinth" on, was reissued not that long ago.

in the poll of favorites.

32. Depends on which version
Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 08:40 PM by Oeditpus Rex
"Girl" was alternately played by Connie Booth and Carol Cleveland. Also, her line varied from "Oh, Basil! I thought you were so rugged!" to "I thought you were so butch!"

Ms. Booth was indeed, though, quite a little stunner — particularly in the episode whence comes that photo.

Edit: That being "The Wedding Party" from "Fawlty Towers."

How odd that in both feature films he played the straight man.

Shamefully, no — I haven't. I have "Graham Crackers," which was the... leftovers, I guess. But I haven't yet gotten "A Liar's Autobiography."

I should be smacked with a fish or something.

Mostly because of what he's done since.

Now, I must go watch _Brazil_. If a prophetic movie ever existed, that one is it.

23. I think John Cleese is fabulous..
A friend of mine met Michael Palin in the underground in London when she visited with a local tour group our junior year. It was pretty cool, and he was really nice. We were watching his Around the world in 80 days series in World Cultures at the time. It was great. Apparently he was really nice, and she even got a picture with him.

laugh the hardest!

Nobody does righteous indignation better than him.

:-)

p.s. I even watched 'Will & Grace' for his appearance(s).

... since the group split up. A scholar, a humorist, and a tremendous social conscience. I really liked "The Crusades" -- was he ever prescient!

One of his pieces critical of the Iraq War:
