1. Is there a more drop dead gorgeous dog than a Golden?
I know it's all relative, but for temperament and sheer glamor, you gotta give it to Golden Retrievers.

4. I'm here to tell ya. I've got two and they are the sweetest.
As well as beautiful and intelligent. One night I was feeling down so I had a hormanal fest with Merlot and Bette Davis. My dog Scarlett licked the tears off my face. :-)

7. No lie, during Hurricane Katrina, Boodah
would sit on my lap and not let me watch TV. The first day, I sat down in the living room chair with my coffee in the morning and started to cry. The second day, when I sat down in front of the TV, he got into my lap and shielded my face from the screen. He would kiss my face and get me laughing and then would go find something for me to do to take my mind off of the TV. He did this every day of the hurricane coverage

As an aside, I remember Peter Jennings saying that the only thing that got him thru covering the events of 9/11 was knowing that he had his Golden to go home to.:(

15. They are big ole goofballs
Mine will get their $15 fake foxes from Petco <no I don't have kids> and play Keep Away all day long. They know when I get upset and they will cheer me up.

5. I so agree
This dog is so smart it scares me. I just love the Golden's personality. Do you have one? Our last dog was a black lab, never was there ever a dog as loyal and protective, but he just could never take a joke.

This is our old dog Buffett

11. Aw geeze. Our family dog growing up was a black lab.
Probably the sweetest being I have ever known in my life. Just pure love. RIP Nicky, you bone head.

2. Poopy Dawg!
Boodah is completely, utterly beautiful!

No baby pix of Fargo, unfortunately (since we got him at 3 years old), although he probably looked something like this:

Here's a recent shot:

12. Thanks!
We got him here:

http://www.txpyrs.org/

I REALLY wanted a Golden. BAD. I love their sweet faces and temperaments. But then I found out that Pyrs make very good latchkey dogs. They're very independent, and don't freak out quite so much when mom and dad have to be gone for awhile.

He's just a big couch potato. But when he wants to play, look out! He's about five this year, and he's my bestest buddy. Just very sweet natured, and lovey-dovey. I adore this dog. I can't think of owning anything but a Pyr now that I've had one.

:loveya:

I have ever seen! What a beautiful dog. She looks so smart too. She obviously is very well cared for. What kind of a dog is it?

9. Thank you! She is a Shetland Sheepdog, Sheltie for short.
Loyal, loving, intelligent..and makes an excellent "other mother" to my kids! In the older pic, she is walking into the living room to check out what all the ruckus is about. :hi:

They even will herd family members together to keep track of them!

16. When my husband was up reroofing the garage last year, she ran
in circles around the garage until he was done. If the children are on the swingset in the back, she runs in circles around the swingset. You should see her with a soccer ball...in short, our yard is a wreck. :hi:

14. My SIL has been raising Shelties for about 30 years now.
I'm constantly amazed at how different they are, one from another. She's got one little guy (Louie) that she's fostering right now that I would take in a minute if I didn't have an elderly cranky cat.

18. They learn ( sometimes) to be subservient to the kitty. Merlin
(our elderly, sometimes cranky cat) took her down once when she was a feisty puppy, and she heeds him now. :) They're like potato chips...it's hard to have one. I'd really love a bunch! :hi:

23. Dog? Puppy?
I've got kitty-cats! :P :P :P

But all the dogs on this page are adorable, really. Goldens are beautiful dogs. So are labs. One of my friends must be legally insane--she has TWO labs who are like 2 y/o. Her dogs are the most hyper (hyperest? :D) creatures on earth, I swear.
