Mouse Thrown Into Fire Sets Home Ablaze
Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 01:14 AM by SofaKingLiberal
FORT SUMNER, N.M. (AP) - A mouse got its revenge against a homeowner who tried to dispose of it in a pile of burning leaves. The blazing creature ran back to the man's house and set it on fire.

Luciano Mares, 81, of Fort Sumner said he caught the mouse inside his house and wanted to get rid of it.

"I had some leaves burning outside, so I threw it in the fire, and the mouse was on fire and ran back at the house," Mares said from a motel room Saturday.

Village Fire Chief Juan Chavez said the burning mouse ran to just beneath a window, and the flames spread up from there and throughout the house.

No was hurt inside, but the home and everything in it was destroyed.

Unseasonably dry and windy conditions have charred more than 53,000 acres and destroyed 10 homes in southeastern New Mexico in recent weeks.

"I've seen numerous house fires," village Fire Department Capt. Jim Lyssy said, "but nothing as unique as this one."

7. I gotta call bullshit on the "Karma" responses to this thread......
I mean, I personally believe it's wrong to throw a mouse into a fire, but (seeing as the majority of you seem to be Cat owners on this board) what if the mouse had met his painful end at the claws and teeth of your little predator and (according to Ashcroft) possible agent of Satan?

Would the mice be justified in taking revenge on your cat?

Actually the story seems kinda BS anyway, since I remember reading something about a burning rabbit that did the same thing just a few months ago.

8. Apples and oranges
Cats, as all animals, follow natural instincts. They cannot be faulted for that.

Humans should know better. And be better.

12. Bingo

Anybody who would throw a living creature into a fire deserves no sympathy for mere property destruction.

16. What a horrible way to kill a mouse. Or anything.

There are much quicker and more humane ways of killing a mouse if you want to get rid of it, and it won't result in your house burning down, either.

23. A friend of mine
had a crayfish-like thing in an aquarium (I don't remember the exact critter now, it may have been some kind of crab). There were rocks that it could climb on, and it would do so ONCE only to test to see if it could get out. He periodically moved the rocks around, and the crayfish would test to see if the new configuration would let it get out. This went on for some time. One day, he was with his girlfriend on the carpet, and it somehow escaped it's tank. It crawled through two rooms, and came up and pinched his waist. He said that he "leaped up and screamed like a girl". Sort of a revenge story...
