Pictures from last night's protest for Justice Sunday III(thanks Joy Anne)
http://www.sauvessanges.com/justiceSundayProtest1.html

Last night Falwell, Dobson & Santorum showed up at a North Philly church to try and push their so-called 'family values' on us. About 300 people showed up with a protest right in front of the church (they police allowed us up to the yellow line in the middle of Broad STreet in Philly). I didn't think hardly anyone was going to be there but at 6:45 ACTUP comes marching in with the most amazing display (they had torches with flares attached on the end so there was a ton of smoke & flames to their enterance).

It was a great protest and the police were respectful to us (although JimmyJazz kept trying to cross the yellow line). Chuck Pennachio and another democrat senate candidate was there (I talked to Chuck some and thanked him for coming to our DU party in Washington DC). We basically kept up the chanting until the people poured out of the church but I suspect that a ton of people exited through the back door in order to avoid the protestors (that or only 150 people showed up to the event)

Check through the pictures!! DUer Joy Anne provided the link on a thread over in GD but I wanted to share them with the lounge!! When travesties like this happen we need to be out there on the streets letting folks know that this is UNACCEPTABLE!!

2. We might do DC instead of NYC that weekend
there might be a protest going on - not 100% sure.

5. Well, we're going to check out the protest
It's just tough because there is a band I really want to see but if there is a protest we should be there!

I could always go see the band on Thursday night in Philly. Why don't you come down sometime on Thursday and go with me!!

6. Is there a GD thread on this Lynne?
Maybe folks in GD care about real activism and have supported you and the others that put their words into action.

I certainly hope so, the lounge is so apathetic and depressing these days. :-(

IMHO, of course. x(

10. You should have seen her crossing the Yellow Line
the basically shut down one side of Broad Street (that's one of the main roads that cuts straight through Philadelphia) and gave us protesters everything up to the double yellow line.

All night Jimmy Jazz kept 'accidently' stepping her foot over the yellow line just to be goofy. I think the cops were pretty cool - they had a job to do but they respected us and never gave us any hassle. You had to respect that!

13. That she is
She's the best person to hang out with at Protests!! We had such a blast last night listening to some great CDs on the trip and gossiping about nothing in particular (all good gossip - we only talk about people we adore because then we call them and tell them we were talking about them!)

15. good for you!
I can't believe Rick thinks this is a good photo op ( considering his next election and alleged presidential ambitions) :puke:

But there are a lot of fundies in out state, alas. I don't know where they are since I live near what's called the People's Republic of Regent Square, but I know they vote.
