Trying to make the move from SF to LA...
Don't ask me why. It's a bizarre thing, being in the bay area. For all of the liberal oasis out here, you have to deal with a 90 minute commute. And your house is STILL small.

So anyone out there looking for a Virtualization and Storage guru?

2. Don't leave. LA commute is mind-numbing.
Move to Marin and work out of your house.

And just what IS Virtualization and Storage?

Do you store things that only you can see?

3. A Virtualization and Storage guru is...
Virtualization is when you have one computer host more than one Operating system concurrently. Comes in handy when IT departments are trying to save money on hardware.

Storage is the storage of data, basically huge towers of systems holding gigs and gigs of disks either accessed over the network or via fiber.

The reason is we need a cheaper house, and want to live near work. That's not happening in the bay area.

5. Unless you have a lot of money, it will be much the same here
If you are looking into a transfer within the same company, you should visit down here and compare commutes. Lots of folks are looking at 300-400K house prices AND a 1-2hr commute on top of it..

We'd love to have you down here, but before you leave the familiar, please check it all out. You have much nicer weather up there..(utility-wise)..Unless you live in the mountains or really near the coast down here, your A/C will run most of the year :(

9. thing is I don't think other people know how out of control
real estate prices are out here.

I live in a 2000 sq ft house in San Ramon (about 40 miles from SF). Its out of town, in a "family farm" and there is about 6 ft between houses. Practically condo living. This home we bought for $620K and could sell today for $890K.

If we could get the same thing for $400-500 in LA we'd be happy (of course living REALLY NEAR where we work.)
