Could someone please help me before my head explodes? |
|
I have a Kodak DX4530 camera. It came with Kodak's "EasyShare" software which is what I've been using to transfer the pictures to my computer. Well, I'm sick of it. It's buggy, hogs system resources and I have better image editing software. I've been trying for the last 2 hours to find a device driver or twain driver so I can access the camera directly without going through their stupid, stinkin', no good, lousy software.
I'm about ready to kill something. Please help. :nuke:

1. Here's what I would do. |
|
Uninstall the software. Hook up the camera to the computer and see if it is recognized. If so, transfer the files and edit with your preferred software. If not, insert the install disk and do a custom install. Only install the driver.

Just lose the software. The camera should be plug and play (if you're on windows 2000 or newer) and you'll find your pictures in JPEG format inside.

3. My computer doesn't recognize the camera |
|
It is a USB camera. I've tried the add new hardware wizard and the add new camera/scanner wizard.
I'm so frustrated. :grr:

5. Try just going to "My pictures" and look for the upload area |
|
I think you might be able to bypass the Kodak software (which I happen to love btw).. I have a Kodak Ls-443..

You don't want the "Buy a Mac"/"Use Linux" response?
(I am only joking, those kinds of responses are sooooooo not helpful).
If I were you, for less than $20 you can get a memory card reader, pop the memory card out of the camera, then pop it into the reader, it will act like another hard drive on your computer.

I had no idea I could get a card reader for a reasonable amount of money.

16. You should get the same effect from just plugging the camera in. |
|
At least, that's how it works for me.
Do you hear a sound when you plug it in?
Have you looked in "My Computer" to see if anything appears?

I'm technically challenged, but I'm still a nice person. :)

8. Get a card reader for your memory card. |
|
Plug it into the USB port, and then stick the memory card into the reader.
Your computer should recognize the memory card as a drive when you're using Windows Explorer.
From there, you should be able to double-click, drag and drop, and everything else.

18. This camera came with a docking station |
|
so I had the camera on the docking station, and then the dock connected to the computer. When I connected the camera directly to the USB, it showed up in my computer and I was able to transfer the pictures.
Of course it would turn out to be something simple, after I've spent 2 hours driving myself crazy.
