Poll question: How many times have you served on a jury?
I don't try to get out of it, but I know some do. I've been called twice - got on one jury, but spent the whole day at the courthouse the other time (they had a late starting case) but never made it into the box.

So how many actual juries have you been on?

And post how many times you've been called...

2. You won't be picked Bob-Me, I did it for a month
I had to go in 3 of the 4 weeks. My number got drawn to go up into the box twice-booted off real quick. I actually saw the lawyer for the plaintiff (commercial trucking accident) cross my position off first.

Trust me you won't have to sit through a trial.

5. Oh, I'm not being called right now - supernova is and it led to this post
I have served on one trial - it was a slam dunk conviction though (third strike for the guy - that's why they even bothered)

I felt bad for him - he stole a candy bar and some cigs. For that he got 14 years.

4. Once
Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 09:39 AM by Strawman
Was very unimpressed with the trial lawyers. They were hacks and it was a stupid case. Two stupid guys got in a fight in the cab of a pickup truck. It was one guy's word over the other's as to who started the altercation. The guy who got the worse of it pressed charges. The other guy claimed he was defending himself. Apparently there had been two hung juries on this case previously. I don't see how unless the other juries were just sympathetic to the older guy. But there was no evidence. We found the guy not guilty in about 10 minutes of deliberation.

8. One Time
It was the first time I got a Jury Summons and the last time. That was 6 years ago. I would like to serve on a jury again. It was kind of neat. Plus my company paid me to go there.

13. Never.
I was summoned once, but as it was during my time at university (and the duty was at my home address 500 miles away) I was excused. Haven't been called since - would be more than willing to serve if called.

I would love to do it too! My mom is a court reporter and she always has some crazy stories to tell! That kind of stuff really interests me.

16. Who do they pick in MS?
My friends have never been asked either.

I have gotten 3 summons in 14 years time. One was while I was in school, so I got out of it.

17. My aunt had to serve and it was a major drug deal and the guy
got life. His wife stalked my aunt afterwards and she had to get the judge and the cops involved. She was upset b/c the juror's addresses and all of that is public record. My family tends to have really bad luck.

Actually, I wouldn't mind getting jury duty, just for the experience, but for some reason I've never been called.

But I'm not sure what they all use.

Driver's licenses? Some sort of tax records?
