RIP Ian

"It is with great sadness that we write to tell you that our dear
friend, colleague and teacher Ian Robertson passed away at about 8:30
am on Sunday, January 1, 2006 at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, BC.


Ian had been in failing health for the past five years, since his
surgery for lung cancer. He managed to squeeze every ounce of life
out of his final years (as, indeed, he did every one of his 65
years). In the last 18 months alone he met up with old Festival
Ballet alumni in Portugal, attended as the surprise mystery guest the
birthday of his dear friend Coronation Street star Amanda Barrie in
London, England, and traveled to another birthday celebration for
friend Dorothy Fairbairn in Minneapolis."

I woke up to this in my inbox today. Ian was my friend, we spent a lot of time together in Montreal. Even though he had AIDS and was missing a lung, he was a vivacious, bright, wonderful person who loved life and refused to sit on the sidelines. I don't even know what to say right now, aside from, I love him and I'll miss him terribly. :cry:
I can't afford to go to the memorial service, but I'll always have him in my heart.
