I picked up my new Prius last night. Ask me anything!
I purchased a 2006 Prius and picked it up last night. The car is sweet. It is technologically awesome. Hybrid, voice recognition, navigation and many other features. Ask me anything.

From Toyota's site:

1. While driving, did you watch the monitor to see the
charging process and how much had been regenerated?

I could see how this could lead to some accidents......

4. I took a peak.
It can be very distracting. Especially the navigation system. The entire car is managed through that screen, so it's hard avoid looking at it. The nice thing is that Toyota added a lot of buttons to the steering wheel and they are very useful.

8. Yeah - that seems a little off.

I'm thinking that in my (normal) car, I know where all the buttons for the radio are and which one is which station.

That is harder to keep in your memory with a touch screen.

But, I'd still almost kill for one :)

much as I want a Prius.

5. The 2006 is a great car.
Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 12:20 PM by Bleachers7
It's a little expensive, but the tax credit should help. The internal features are on the level of a luxury car.

6. Is it green?
Why are hybrids usually green? (Yeah, I know, connotation, but what if I want a little red with my green?)

11. Congratulations!!!
I got my new Honda Element last week. Not as ecologically sound as a Prius, but equally fun (and a tad cheaper since you can't really get a dealer to discount a Prius, but you definitely can an Element).

WoooHooo for you :bounce:

I had a trade in and a college graduation credit that made it slightly better. I hope to get the $3150 tax credit next year as well.

19. It's looks like a compact car
Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 01:21 PM by Bleachers7
But it's roomy on the inside. It's great for a place like NYC because it runs on Electric mostly in traffic. The city MPG is 60, highway is 51.

Let me know if you want to get one from a dealer on LI. I get money back for referring you.

Yeah, being in the city a smaller car makes much more sense...

24. August but...
I asked them to wait for until January because I wanted the $3150 tax credit. I could have gotten a car right away at the time. I'm not sure how bad the wait is now. I think you can buy a 2005 and get the credit. The 2006 has some better features.

30. Maybe
It depends on a lot of things including the honcesty and volume of the dealer. You may also be able to find cars in remote places. A 6 month wait will probably still qualify you for the full rebate. Check out www.priuschat.com for lots of good info.

Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 01:32 PM by Debbi801
i love that feature. But, then I get confused when I have to drive our other car where I need to actually put a key in the ignition to start it.

Ours looks just like your picture. What color did you get?

Edits cause I can't spell.

Adn I am still not used to it. I have been pulling the keys out of my pocket. 13 years conditioning as a driver will do that.

31. I don't have that system but a co-worker just got her new Prius
and hers has all the bells and whistles. I have to get a ride in it soon to see all the fancy stuff the new ones have.

Enjoy it!!! :hi:

And especially enjoy fewer visits to the gas pump!

32. The 2006
has voice activated navigation and other systems, higher res LCD, and aux port for an iPod. There is a slight change to the body. Other than that, it's almost identical to the 2005. I haven't had to gas it yet. That will be tomorrow.
