for those of you who think i am superficial and frivolous and attention seeking you are right. i am.

i also post a lot of pics. and appreciate the compliments to them.

however if what i post bugs you so much why cant you put me on ignore?

its a great function. and prevents random snarkiness.

i appreciate those that can enjoy the frivolity in their lives. and i deeply appreciate this in myself.

i have survived a lot of shit and i am happy that i can enjoy the teeny little bits of silliness.

Plus it’s not uncommon for people to dislike vanity (even if you think that’s nothing to be bothered by). It is simply another part of our social nature. 6 yrs ago this coming June, I participated in the CA AIDS Ride, a fundraiser bikeride from SF to LA, over the course of a week. We rode 575 miles and 3,000 of us raised $11.25 million dollars for AIDS services and research. I personally raised almost $5,000, in donations from all my friends and family. Anyway, every night, after the long day's ride, they'd have HIV+ people up on stage, talking about what it was like to live with the disease, just to keep the importance of what we were doing up front, in everyone's mind. I'll never forget the one guy who shared how every day he had to take 48 pills a day....16 of which were for dealing with the SIDE EFFECTS of the other 32 pills. Whew. For some reason, that really sunk in, the intensity of it all.

I wish you and your friend all the best. I'm sure you will stand by him as he moves forward with his life. :hug:

Outline why you find the behavior objectionable and ask him/her/them/whoever to stop it. Failing that, if said person has read this thread and won't put you on ignore, why not take the initiative and put the person on ignore yourself? It will have almost as good an effect on limiting the behavior. I feel that threads in the Lounge are, for the most part, silly and frivolous enough to make fun of gently, but I think it's important to stop at the point of real cruelty or assholishness.
