Do you sometimes feel like a big whale?? |
|
I went window shopping today, tried on a couple of clothes. But the moment I saw myself in the mirror I almost screamed. I looked kinda big. And I am build normal size, maybe 5-10 pounds too much on my ribs but nothing extraordinary. Guess today wasn't my day for buying clothes.
Does that happen to you also?

I walk everywhere and live in Seattle, so all that hill climbing has given me thick thighs and ample bootay. Try being a man with a full butt/thighs/hips. Finding pants that fit the waist and also around the butt, crotch and upper legs is terrible. I end up looking huge, though I'm 5'11" and only have a 32.5 inch waist. It's like my ass is going to attack...look out..here comes the ass...Flat fronts look like they'll explode and pleats just make me look dumpy.
I do look fine in a nice gown though. I'm a curvy drag queen.

62. get yourself a George Foreman grill |
|
it makes everything "quick" and easy.
I love mine for just about everything, but especially fish. I like to take something out of the freezer the night before, put it into some kind of marinade during the day, and when I come home, I throw it on the grill. Serve w/ steamed veggies or a quick salad.
Pasta and rice are not necessarily bad for you, but try to stay w/ whole wheat pasta and brown rice. They increase your metabolism because they are high in fiber.
Brown rice does take longer to cook than white, but whole wheat pasta cooks in about the same amount of time.
Good luck!

they don't seem to make clothes for women who are shaped like women...
i could stand to lose 10 or so pounds from around the middle and the thighs, but i'm not huge. however, that's how i feel whenever i go shopping for pants
one size is too tight and the next one up falls off
i always get depressed when i go shopping for clothes and wind up going out for ice cream...and then i hate myself for eating ice cream
needless to say i don't go shopping for clothes unless i've loaded up on my meds

|
heheh.
Yes, that has happened to me. Not pleasant.
I try to keep things in perspective, though. Those dressing rooms can be a great place to practice self-affirmations of Love, Acceptance, and Compassion. MUCH easier said, than done, admitedly.
It also depends on what my mood is, if my blood sugar is low, if I'm hungry, if I've recently eaten, if I'm PMS-y, if I have the kids with me, if it's a day of the week that starts with a "T"...the list is pretty much endless. just kidding on the last one, however. :) Basically, I think we just gotta lighten up about the whole weight conversation we carry on in our brains, ya know?? We're too damn hard on ourselve!!
Ladies, can I get an "Amen!!!"????

I am convinced it's the mirrors in the dressing rooms, because I can look at myself in the mirror before leaving the house, and I look fine. I get in the dressing room, and OMG, Wilma the Whale is staring back at me!!!! Penneys has the absolutely worst mirrors; I won't even look in them. If what I'm trying on feels okay, then I'll buy it and try it on in front of the mirror at home.

It doesn't make any sense. Of course, there are a lot of things clothing retailers could do that would probably increase their sales, including carrying clothes that are truly flattering for people over 21. It seems like in the past few years the juniors department has spread into all categories of clothing for women. I don't shop at malls anymore because it's almost impossible to do so and not look like you're trying to relive your teenage years. And I'm only 33! I don't have conservative tastes, either. I can't stand frump. Just not juniors crap.

 You are a wise woman, indeed.
Ultimately, I believe who we are is MUCH MUCH more than our bodies and personalities, but that's another conversation....That isn't to say our bodies don't matter, just that it's worth considering the value of the unseen and internal qualities of Self-Love, Compassion and Grace, instead.
True Beauty comes from Within and loving oneself. I know you already know this.

The average temp in January and February in my part of the world is around 0°C (or colder), so we don't do a whole lot of physical activity out of doors. It seems I always add a few pounds starting in November, and drop most of them during March.
And IMHO there's nothing wrong with a few extra pounds/kilos on a woman. I think it looks very sexy, in fact! :7
