When will I ever learn? Cooking advice to Miz t. |
|
She's making shrimp and sausage gumbo. I go in the kitchen to fix a drink.
"That roux?" "Yep." "Pan looks kind of hot to me. Are you making blonde or dark? Maybe you should turn it down a little." "I ALWAYS make dark roux for gumbo. Sonny, how many times you made gumbo?" "Um...none." "How about fixing your drink and fixing me a gin and tonic and sit it down right here and hauling your ass out of my kitchen for a while?"
Then she smiled and kissed me.
When will I ever learn? ;-)

1. Hmmm...seems to me I recall a similar conversation. |

My dad (post-retirement): Hey, why are you doing (insert topic) like that? My mom (irritated): I've been doing it this way for 30 years and you haven't complained until now. D: Oh ok, but if you did... M: Out! (dad leaves) M (to me): If he doesn't figure out what to do with his time, I'm going to kill him.

3. Dad's in deep doo-doo next month. |

Mom goes in for a hip replacement. She does the cooking. Come to think of it, Mom's in trouble, too. Dad CAN cook, as he was a flightline cook at one time. But, I wonder if he can only cook for large numbers of diners. Should be fun. :)
