It was bad. I haven't been able to have one since the surgery, so maybe it improved in the last three years. Otherwise, it's torture.

After one or two men go through that, the procedure will be made less painful.

Have you ever noticed that although it hurts women to be kicked there too, we don't end up in a fetal position like men do? I have always wondered about that.

30. Ooh, that reminds me of a horror story from Temple.
It'll make you cringe, but it was just so bad, I still can't believe it.

We were required to wear dresses or skirts when I went to school there. Well, my mother made my clothes. She used this really stiff denim and starched it too. The rule was that our hem lines had to come down to our knees. Well, the school was constantly under construction. There was this retaining wall about 4 feet high made out of concrete blocks. There was about a foot on the high side where the dirt didn't quite come all the way to the wall. I was walking on it and fell straddling it.

Now, if I had been wearing jeans, I wouldn't have abrased (is that the word?) the insides of my legs. The worst part is that the skirt held my legs tightly together while I slid down further and further on the blocks in shock. I didn't end up going all the way down, but the abrasion was about 8 inches long and it bled and bled. I was so nervous having to go to the office to ask for first aid. I had just finished a conversation with a girl whose father was a preacher. Her father believed that only married women should wear panties. I was so scared to ask for help that I ended up going to the bathroom and trying to stop the bleeding with toilet paper. That night when I got home and told my aunt, she started crying. She said that I should ask for help right away if anything like that happened again. I walked waaaaay around that wall and any other concrete on the playground/construction site after that. It took a month to heal.

Four times. I was never that impressed with it. It has moments, sure — including a couple of absolute classics, like "Every Sperm is Sacred" and, of course, Mr. Creosote. But much of the rest of it drags rather a lot.

I've seen "ANFSCD" two or three times. The fun part about it is comparing the sketches to the teevee versions.

53. Breast cancer IS natural, in a way...
but that doesn't make it desirable, does it?

I worked with Picker International (they were one of my customers) in the 1980s, and I can tell you that they (and, by extension, other mammogram-machine manufacturers) work VERY hard to make the procedure less painful than it is, while making it as precise as posible.

Believe me, if someone could invent a machine that would make that procedure more comfortable, they would. In a heartbeat.
