Some humans ain't human

Though they walk like we do
They live and they breathe
Just to turn the old screw
They screw you when you're sleeping
They try to screw you blind
Some humans ain't human
Some people ain't kind

I saw him in 1975, in Ann Arbor.
He' still good.
Got a favorite of his?

5. Nope, not really.
truthfully, I don't have any of his stuff, but they play him all the time on the radio station I listen to, KPIG. Squeal, squeal!!

I liked it when he sang with Bonnie Raitt on "Angel of Montgomery".

7. Well, I am stoked to tell you we've got tix to see her in 4 wks.
here in Santa Cruz, CA. I've seen her a bunch of times over the years, as I am a hard-core fan, but I'm still very much looking forward to seeing her again. The show is already sold out and we got killer seats. :woohoo:

Her whole band is kick-ass, imo, and of course she totally ROCKS.

It's cool to meet another music fan... :hi:

Yeah, I'll tell her hi for you! :)
:pals:

BTW, next Friday, the 20th, we've got tix to see The Indigo Girls, also here in SC. Should I tell them Hi, too? Are you familiar with their sound? Folksy, sweet harmonies....good stuff.

Believe me, friend, this is highly unusual for us to have so much lined up on our live music calender, so we're happy.

Having two kids changes everything....:eyes:

25. Well, you've certainly paid your dues, haven't you?
:) Good for you. It must be a trip to watch them unfold into adult-hood.

Yes, I tell them everyday how much I love my kids. Coming from divorced parents, I also feel incredibly blessed to have a great hubby that I'm crazy about, so our kids get to be raised in a circle of love. It doesn't get much better than that... :loveya:

Are your children intellectually curious?

Do they drag Dad to the library?

27. Yeah, right. Completely BONKERS.
hehehe. Actually, they're great kids, very creative.
My 12 yr old son plays drums. He's got chops, seriously! He's also waaaay into magic and is constantly performing tricks and sleight of hand stuff. A real character.
My 9 yr old dtr is "the noticer" of the family (that's what she calls herself, actually) and is quite the artist. She's prolific with what she creates. Constantly drawing and coloring. Heart of gold.
My hubby and I sing in a performing choir, too. Yes, we're a very creative, if a bit crazy at times, family.
Dad works a lot in the computer biz and I do most of the childcare during the workweek. You get the picture. Yeah, we're traditional in many ways and very UNtraditional in many ways, too. All in all, we're deeply blessed and I give thanks, every day.

I can tell YOU're a musical and creative person, too. Do you play an instrument? I play congas, as well as sing.

except the French Horn.

I'm more likely to express myself with iron nowdays:

I could tell. You've also got the pix posting thing down. Something I haven't mastered yet, myself. (sigh)
Nice work. Are those for holding plants?

Hmmm....brass, iron....good combination of all the elements: earth, air, fire, and water. You must be very grounded.

I like it...maybe someday you'll teach your kids to do blacksmithing, too. I'm sure it's very fulfilling to create something tangible with your hands.

33. You hit the nail on the head, Shine.
I spent four years (1970-1974) in the USAF doing maintainance on
complex electronics systems.
I could have had a very lucrative career as a civilian avionics tech.

I used my GI bill to learn welding and fabrication,
simply beacuse I wanted to be able to hold or touch
what I made.

My kids have enjoyed a few days with me and my (I made it) forge
and (I made it) anvil.

34. Very cool, Ptah. Sounds like you chose wisely.
I don't know if you're much of a reader, but for some reason, this conversation is reminding me of a series of books by the author Orson Scott Card, called The Tales of Alvin Maker. Have you, by chance, heard of it? Alvin is, like you, a blacksmith, who is also a "Maker", he has the ability to Create. Orson Scott Card is an amazing writer and in this series he uses the lore and folk magic of our early settlers to create an America that is completely enchanting. Something tells me you'd love these books.

4. Have you ever noticed

When you're feeling really good
There's always a pigeon
That'll come shit on your hood

Or you're feeling your freedom
And the world's off your back
Some cowboy from Texas
Starts his own war in Iraq

17. Prine songs always
invite a singalong. I love the duo with Iris DeMent:

"In Spite Of Ourselves"

She don’t like her eggs all runny
She thinks crossin’ her legs is funny
She looks down her nose at money
She gets it on like the easter bunny
She’s my baby I’m her honey
I’m never gonna let her go

He ain’t got laid in a month of sundays
I caught him once and he was sniffin’ my undies
He ain’t too sharp but he gets things done
Drinks his beer like it’s oxygen
He’s my baby
And I’m his honey
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
We’ll end up a’sittin’ on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we’re the big door prize
We’re gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won’t be nothin’ but big old hearts
Dancin’ in our eyes.

She thinks all my jokes are corny
Convict movies make her horny
She likes ketchup on her scrambled eggs
Swears like a sailor when shaves her legs
She takes a lickin’
And keeps on tickin’
I’m never gonna let her go.

He’s got more balls than a big brass monkey
He’s a wacked out werido and a lovebug junkie
Sly as a fox and crazy as a loon
Payday comes and he’s howlin’ at the moon
He’s my baby I don’t mean maybe
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
We’ll end up a’sittin’ on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we’re the big door prize
We’re gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won’t be nothin’ but big old hearts
Dancin’ in our eyes.
There won’t be nothin’ but big old hearts
Dancin’ in our eyes.

(spoken) in spite of ourselves

Not a day goes by, that you don't cross my mind
But at the same time, ah think of all the hell you put me through...
Yeah it's the lesser of two evils
Ah think I'm better off with the blues.
