1. I miss Bob.
He seemed like such a gentle human being.

7. It was
I used to watch it just for that reason. It relaxed me.

And I'd wonder if Ross was Mr. Rogers' hippie brother.

10. Gotta wonder if she was hyperactive
She's rearranging furniture like the Mad Woman of Biggleswade or something, and he's just "Whateeeeever you wanna do. It can go there, or it doesn't matter. It's just a happy little sofa."

14. He was like meditation for me, too.
Before I discovered meditation, watching him was like going to church for me! :) I also resonated with him because he was former USAF, too. I couldn't believe it when I'd heard he had died in '95.

I ran across a pretty offbeat description of his appeal to adults, and I had to wonder at it, because it references Mr. Rogers, too, which was also one of my favorite shows. What do you think of the following sentiment:

What television neighbor Fred Rogers does for the lonely, alienated child, Bob Ross does for the isolated, emotionally unavailable adult. Or at least a person who considers his own existence to be more of a mistake than a happy accident. He accomplishes in mere minutes what it's taken Dr. Phil, Dr. Laura, and the Deepak Chopracabra a lifetime to fail at.

18. Link
I'm still pondering whether I really like Bob Ross because I'm an "isolated, emotionally unavailable adult," lol.

But here's the whole commentary:

http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/artists/bob-ross/

(One factual error the author makes in this piece though, he seems to think Ross had a "brief" career in the USAF, when Ross served for 20 years.)

24. Bob Ross taught people to paint for the fun of it.
Even if the results were not museum-quality.

Thomas Kinkade pretends to be a great artist & his saccharine dreck is hugely overpriced.

Ole Mick took years to paint the Sistine Chapel, Bob would have knocked it off in half an hour...

26. I love Bob Ross - the man had skills!!
I wish they would put out Series DVDs like they do with all the Sitcoms/Dramas on TV. I'd pay for a few seasons of Bob Ross - it's such a happy time!
