Pretty expensive stuff. Just wondering if anyone has here "experienced" the buzz.

1. Artemiesia absinthium
is readily available on the 'net, if you want to go for the homebrew...

3. Just watch out when you buy it. Some purported "absinthe" doesn't...
...have the wormwood in it. Also, there are different percentages of wormwood in the ones that do. Make sure the bottle specifies the amount. Just google the topic, and you can find all kinds of sources and strengths for it.

6. I tried it in Amsterdam, but honestly, I was already so drunk and high...
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 03:55 AM by Robeson
...I really couldn't tell if it had an affect on me. I was already in blotto-land, so I wouldn't be a good reference.

10. If it's bought in America it's the stuff made with the wormwood cousin
My favorite liquor store carries a variety of high-end speciality stuff not normally found in the corner liquor store. While selection a Limoncello to purchase I noticed next to the Limoncello section that there were a few bottles of "Absinthe" or as they spell it "Absynthe". Basically they found a relative of the so called 'nasty-vile' wormwood and they produced something simliar to Absinthe but without anything that'll make you supposively go batshit crazy.

At $40 a bottle I figured it really wasn't worth finding out what the craze was about Absinthe. I'd rather travel to Europe and try the real thing!

7. Tried it once, really didn't think it was worth the effort or expense.
Maybe it was the 'IN' thing in 1920 Paris,
but I felt that the actual product fell far short of the MYSTIQUE
which surrounds the word.

A 40oz of King Cobra
and $5 worth of Mexican brown,
used in combination,
give you a MUCH better return for your Buzz-dollar investment.

9. I have not tried it yet
but I have read up on the subject. There are a ton of fakes out there. These sites are your best bet to find the "real" deal:

I think it's like seeing in 3 1/2 dimensions. You won't know what I mean until you try it.

Here's one of the most comprehensive places to look into it: http://www.feeverte.net/

12. I've had it. It tasted like Nyquil and didn't do anything.
But my friend mixed with sugar and water, I think...some goofy concoction so maybe it was dilluted or something. I don't know. Didn't seem all that hot to me. Or maybe we just needed to drink more of it. It was free though so I can't complain too much.
