What song can you hear over and over again? |
|
I can answer this from experience, as I have an unfortunate tendency to fixate on certain songs and wear out the repeat button on whatever medium I'm playing, much to the consternation I'm sure of friends, families and neighbors. Honorable mention awardees here are "No Myth" by Michael Penn (a dozen times running), "Ana Ng" by They Might Be Giants (several dozen times), and "When You Make Up Your Mind" by Gutterball (many, many dozens of times). The winner, however, even I have trouble believing in retrospect. I put on "Zombie" by The Cranberries and let it play continuously (or is it continually? I'm sure somebody will correct me if it is) for two and a half days. My recollection is imperfect but I have a feeling that somebody with a W in his name had just stolen some election or another and I was in a correspondingly foul mood. At least the police weren't called (I mean for all Cranberries all the time, though wouldn't it have been great if they'd been called for the election?)
Anyway, if you don't feel like admitting to insanity commensurate with mine vis-a-vis playing the song over and over, feel free to answer with songs you don't mind hearing repeatedly on the radio or over the PA, say.

It's very reassuring to me, and especially nowadays, I need all the reassurance I can get. I don't think I could ever get tired of that song.

11. That whole album is pretty good |

One of my friends in college was obsessed with Drivin' on 9, and once left that song on repeat while we were drinking for about 6 hours.
Quite a testament to that song that no one really complained about it for most of the evening.

15. My "Might Be Giants" is Birdhouse in your Soul |

My SO plays things within an inch of their life - Elvis Costello & Joe Jackson particularly and show tunes (and I'm pretty sure he's straight). Recently "Man of La Mancha", which is driving me nuts.
He went through a Sweeny Todd period, and I could listen to that forever, especially "Have a Little Priest"
