How much was your last heating bill?? |
|
I'm in the midwest and my 2nd heating bill of the season came to over $300. More than any one heating bill I had last year. And I even thought I put up more protection from the elements too..
I'm glad this has been a mild winter to say the least..

3. $369 for a tank of oil |
|
I have a 1400 square ft house. It lasts about a month. Luckily it's warm this month. I have the thermostat @ 65 peak times/60 at night. I feel I should get more than a month out of 150 gallons.

I've used less gas than last year. The rates went up 15%. I also added a gas cooktop instead of the ole' electric range.
It should be my peak bill. I was expecting $350.

8. I'll never forget my first year in this house. |
|
We bought a fixer-upper. The old furnace was horribly inefficient. We put in $1200 worth of heating oil in two months time. And still froze our asses off.

We're still recovering from the shock.
Edited to qualify: gas = everything, not just heat.

for three months.
The heat is never set above 60. I live alone. I use electricity running computers and a TV and for cooking on the (frigging) electric stove. But most of the bill is due to natural gas. Only the furnace and water heater use gas. I take a long hot shower every three days or so and run the dishwasher and do laundry occasionally, which is it for using hot water. All my windows are at least double-pane, most are triple-pane.
