So which free anti-virus/adblocking programs should be on my laptop? |
|
I removed all my prev.programs and want to reinstall new programs. Any tips? (I know this is a beaten to death topic, sorry)

Free antivirus programs: AVG FreeAvast AntivirusI have used both AVG Free and Avast; I am currently running Avast on a 2 year old Dell laptop with no problems. Free antispyware/anti-adware programs (I use all of these): Ad-AwareSpybotSpyware BlasterMicrosoft Anti Spywareon edit: Zone Alarm Free is a good free firewall.

AVG Ad-Aware Microsoft Anti-Spyware
Thats it.
But.. None of them have ever caught anything bad..
Because-
I only use Firefox I use gMail I don't open e-mail attachments unless I really know they are legit. Windows update
This Windows 2000 pro box works fine and is clean after 1.5 years of use.
