Any MS SQL experts here: Trying to create a new DB |
|
and a new server..
for the love of Pete, I can't even figure it out! I would LOVE to have a step-by-step directions.
I'm using MS SQL 2000, and tried to create a server and a db using Enterprise manager, didn't help.
What am I doign wrong here?

I'll walk you through it ... if you have Enterprise Manager running, I assume the server is already up and running.

2. After Install you should see a wizard... |
|
If not use your MS friend the right-click and create a new Server Group. go into that group, right click and create a new database...
Let it assign defaults for size, etc.
Let me know how it goes! :)

7. The server called (Local) is you |
|
I don't think a re-install would help. Under the (local) server icon do you see a + sign to expand?

As you make each layer, on the menu you see Action or right-click on the Server Group and you will see New SQL Server Registration. Local is fine for the name of the registration.
Right-click the new registration and you see New >>Database and type in any name you want for it.
Let me know when you get this far...SQL Server is complicated but believe me it worth it and you can make a career out of it!
